Why not, let's pay attention to Challengers too...

Donaldson regrouped to win 7-5 second set and advances to play Odesnik.

Nice draw there with Querrey as top seed. Maxi will be happy...Giron and Novikov are both playing.

Biggest win so far for the young USA player, he looked pretty sharp. Definitely a nice looking challenger draw and great setting.

Harrison definitely struggling to find some form and confidence. Hopefully he's playing all 3 weeks of this swing, plus the rest of the US Challengers in the fall.

Kinda confused how Donaldson loses 3rd rd US Open jrs, but rebounds to knock out Harrison. Does this mean Harrison can't even win a jr Grand Slam these days??

It kind of seems that there is this transition period between juniors and pros where the up and comers can begin to get more pro level wins but get beat more by the junior tour.

Makes me wonder how close in level the top juniors are with the average challenger circuit player, despite juniors and pros being two different animals entirely.

Yeah Novikov told me about it. Looks like a good turnout for a Challengers tourney!

Orleans SF lineup looks like an ATP 250...Staks vs Vesely and PHM vs Bellucci. That's three guys who have been inside the top 35 and the fourth (Vesely) certainly expected to get there soon.

Donaldson into the SFs...plays Smee/Broady winner. Tim is smoking Broady right now...breadstick and a break in the second.

Staks and Bellucci advance to the finals in Orleans. The Brazilian has some momentum after sinking Spain in DC. He struggled mightily vs Gicquel and Lokoli early this week but cruised against Sijsling and now PHM. A win puts him near #60.

I just watched the Napa doubles final with Polansky/Shamasdan winning v. 2 Americans 7/6 6/1.

Polansky is a great doubles player, has got taller and stronger and would be good in the Canada v. Japan upcoming DC tie.

Time to move over Daniel and let a young blood take your place in DC.

Polansky/Pospisil would roll off the tongue well!

Mons Challenger this week in Belgium is loaded! Goffin is a WC/#1 seed. Darcis grabbed a protected ranking spot and the other seeds include Sijsling, Vesely, Bellucci, Sela and Dustin Brown. This may be Olivier Rochus' last tourney as well. He is a WC and plays Gerald Melzer (Jurgen's younger brother) 1R.

Anybody else looking forward to Kozlov - Harrison later on today?? If Harrison loses two wks in a row to a youngster I think he's gonna seriously lose it.

Good luck at 4:30. Kudla seems like a nice kid. Chatted briefly w/him last year at Tiburon. Good lineup today in Sac. Rhyne Williams and Novikov's serve are entertaining. Harrison might be tough to watch.

I watched Kudla in the Cincy slam qualies last year, nice game but no obvious big weapon.

Congrats to VEB for winning a marathon (3:17) final in a decisive TB over Souza in Colombia. He saved one CP in the breaker.

I just watched Polansky/Odesnik. It was basically 21/2 hours of 2 players bashing balls across the net. Absolutely no finesse...drop shots, net play or anything you see with ATP matches. This is what challenger tennis is about I guess. . Or maybe it was just Odesnik and Polansky. Odesnik finally won.

I love the live stream. but I wont bother watching any more of it. Too bad.

Ryan said to Dennis after the match " GREAT match, you played great". That must have been very tough. just lost a horrible match to a Child and be able to be man about it and be nice to Denis is a big thing to do. shows he is a great person.

You meant 'Stefan', right??

Home court advantage in the US (Sacramento) and Belgium (Mons)...guaranteed US finalist from bottom of the draw out West while 3 of the QFists in Mons are Belgian. Goffin faces Zverev, Darcis gets Gerald Melzer and Bemelmans plays Vesely.

Wow and Kozlov wins. Into the final. Maybe he isn't so far off his slightly older junior rivals Coric and Zverev...

I'm thinking he's gotten confidence from their success. I think he has a winning record against Zverev, and that he went 3 sets against Coric in the US Open qualies this yr.

Guess Harrison, Williams, and now Smyzcek can all commiserate.

He last beat Zverev last year. Zverev really upped his game in 2014 and annihilated Koz at the Aussie Jrs. I'm very impressed with this set of wins because he was able to hang with seasoned players, all much older than him, in mentally grueling three set matches in tough conditions. He really needs to work on the serve though.
