Why would anybody buy USED socks?

There really are people who want their stuff having been washed 500 times before they even would touch it because they fear nothing more than chemical residues from production.

Worked with a gal who bought socks, took pics of her legs and feet and sold them on auction as worn for about $50 per pair.

There are weird people out there

That is not weird. That is perfectly normal.

I am talking about men's used sports socks. No woman involved. And no premium involved.

Used Adidas men's socks discounted for $9.99.
Those same Adidas socks go for $16.99 new.

They are not used. They are pre-owned.

There's something for everyone I guess. I know people that have no issues going and buying used tennis shoes, then complain they aren't that comfortable. Just blows my mind how people are unwilling to invest in their own health. Bad shoes cause foot issues which leads to back and further discomfort, I'm not a rocket scientist and I know this.

I did it once. Three pairs of those Nike Elite basketball socks Thai I use for tennis. It worked out great. I think I paid like $10 for three pairs.

"One man's trash is another man's treasure". I would say I have primarily bought used apparel and footwear for the past 5 years. The thinking is around 1) sustainability (reduce/reuse/recycle) plus 2) if I can get something I want in good condition and discounted, then I can make a smaller impact and footprint while saving some coin. I even took this a step further and had this a theme for Christmas giving where items given were to be "used".
That being said, I draw the line at underwear and socks. (If I was as rich as Croesus and didn't care about sustainability, my indulgence would be to only wear new socks once and then throw them away...no stink and there's more cushion or something about new socks!)

I guess we can hope that the sellers have the same (high) level of cleanliness. The same kind we would expect from a hotel with their sheets and towels.
