It is based on the rankings - the Race will be identical to the rolling 52-week rankings after the Paris Masters.

Not only that, the Kia is less likely to become a paperweight at random times. I learned this from personal experience.

This someone knew Mercedes sponsored the event, and that he'd get the car publicly were he to win. Not exactly the time to bring up another brand, he does promotions for them already.
