Wilander "Alcaraz has the best forehand of all time"

Poll: who's stupider, less perceptive, and more crowd-focused as a tennis commentator:

John McEnroe (or his superfluous little brother), or Mats Wilander ?

Wilander should be drug tested all the time by his employers. After all he has a history with cocaine and he says stuff that sounds like he is high all the time.
If Mats is really on the stuff, which he seemingly is, it’s out of your system within a couple days. He’s in the clear. Next week, he’ll be saying Hurkacz has the best serve ever.

"He has the best forehand of all timeme," he assured to Eurosport. "He has a lot of options: he can go inside-out, inside-out, drop and also both ways. And he can do it like Rafa Nadal does. You have to stay away from his forehand or you will have a very long day"
THIS IS THE BEST THREAD OF ALL TIME.

His job, as has already been said repeatedly, is to "sell" that what is current is much better than the past and attract the largest possible audience to generate revenue for his sport news network each year.
Wilander does his job very well.
Wilander playing the percentages as always.

Authorities' opinions must be heard and pondered, but authorities can be wrong like everyone else.
True but only someone who has actual experience playing against the best of the best, pros, has any chance of actually knowing what would or wouldn't be the best because they alone have the experience.

I will be the odd one out here

My hot take is that Wilander is slightly exaggerating but it’s top 7 and maybe even top 5

I thought Mats got off the drugs.

Wilander has the best player evaluation of all time. He has lots of options. He's versatile. He can talk out his arse, say the unthinkable, or simply conjure things up out of thin air. He can do it like Kyrgios does. You have to stay away from Wilander's evaluations, or you will have a very long day.

There's always one or more pre-conditions attached to a claim like "best forehand of all times", and more often than not, these are not explicit. Best from the baseline? Best spin/penetration ratio? Best under pressure? Best top level? Most consistent? Because one thing is certain: no one has the BFHOAT in all categories/all conditions.

My vote goes to Stanimal
Pre-condition: on clay and slow HCs, big matches, all out from the baseline, backed by a OHBH on fire.

That is a logical fallacy (wrong argument) known as argument from authority, which consists in asserting that something is true only because an authority on a topic said it.

Authorities' opinions must be heard and pondered, but authorities can be wrong like everyone else.
I thought Stefan a being sarcastic.

Alcaraz has already won a lot. I don't care about best of all time or some but he is having best forehand of today. And would likely end in top 5 of all time from forehand wing.

Alcaraz's BH is the better shot, the FH is an error machine. That may change as he gets more mature but for now the FH is inconsistent.

The stats say Sinner but I like Charlie’s forehand more on clay, don’t know about grass. He should improve, but the best of all time it is certainly not.

Career is just started. I think he can definitely get there.

To me, looking back, we have severely overrated some forehands in history.

Nadal is number 1 no doubt but after Nadal there is huge mix of which is the best forehand of all time. We can't compare across 3 generations because unlike ranking or title, this has technical details.

The way raz can inject pace is inhuman , something only Nadal could do at his best. He can go flat or he can generate huge spins. He can defend even on grass. I think he would become best forehand of this time.

Alcaraz inside in forehand is becoming unstoppable force. His kicker to the backhand with inside in and slider out to forehand with inside out both are dangerous weapons.
