Will All Of You Next-gen Bashers Finally Stop Whining If Berrettini Wins?

NO, because Federer is Freiza, Nadal is Vegeta and Djokovic is Goku and both of them will later surpass Freiza.
Dragon Ball Z analogies are appropriate here given that universe also featured a disappointing young generation that failed to surpass their predecessors. Gohan peaked really high and won a slam against an ATG opponent, at least.

Trunks will come from the future, don't worry there will be a slam winner when Djokovic and Nadal retire. Thiem is Gohan and he did well.

Hard to believe Novak wont up his game for the final, he's hasn't really found second gear up to now so I don't think it's going to happen.

unfortunately these guys are in a damned if you do damned if you don’t situation, as I’m sure the rebuttal when they start to win will be “geriatric Nadal” or “mummified Djokovic” etc etc.

I agree they are a weak generation but you feel they will be forever maligned, no matter what.

there needs to be a trend of slam wins. Not just occasional once a year “one offs” to know a new generation has arrived. if Berettini wins and then djoker or nadal wins the open, it doesn’t mean much

Sure. There's a 1% chance that happens tomorrow. If Berritini wins more than 10 games, frankly, I'll be surprised.

Honestly, eventually, some of these guys will win, even against Novak. I just don't know when that will be. Right now, Novak looks like he'll be him for at least several more years.

For god sakes, Medvedev got smoked on his best surface. Tsitsipas lost a 2-0 lead on his best surface and Novak's worst. I'm basically resigned to the fact that they don't have "more" they'll have to wait for Novak to be even less. The crazy thing is that he's not THAT good nowadays compared to his peak. It just doesn't matter, he's just so much better at doing things that eventually lead to winning.

Nah, the damage has been done. Besides, to paraphrase @metsman, he probably only wins if Drunkovic lets him and in which case, who cares? Well, in the case of Drunkovic actually being exposed I suppose the interest would be understandable.

Made Djoker scream in Paris. Then won Queens. And now in the Final.
Improving. Learning.

Have never seen an entire generation so unfairly scorned and maligned.

Nope. As soon as they fail to stop Djokovic at US Open or AO, the moaners will be back whining and moaning some more.

Next Gens aren't getting flacks because they aren't good(they are good unlike what's mostly parroted on these boards), they are bashed because they're failing to act as gatekeepers of Federer's records hence why they receive so much hate on these Fed fans dominated boards.

Ultronians think its all about Nole. Im a Federer-fan and my man is finished. For me its about finding someone new to cheer for, some new ATG potential player with a personality, currently there is noone in sight. Its probably what Ultronians saw in Novak when it was all about Fedal. But the field outside Big3 is so boring you fall asleep during the match, and their choking is more predictable than a Hollywood movie. Nothing annoys me more when i hear "their time will come". Ive been hearing that for 10 years, its the same they said about Dimitrov.

They play amazing tennis but get hated on because they come up a little short against the GOAT at his peak.
Would be different if it was Fedal winning. We wouldn’t hear any of it.
Amazing tennis?? Shapo was so dissapointed with his own effort that he was crying. Winning almost every serve game 40-0 but gets broken the one serve game he needs to hold. Blowing away BPs at 0-40 and 15-40. Spraying UEs on every important point. That is amazing tennis?

Let them start winning first. They cannot expect to be praised or lauded for ALWAYS bending over dutifully against the Big 3. For example if Berrettini actually takes down Novak tomorrow, it’ll be complete credit to him. But deep down we all know that’s never gonna happen. It’s this certainty of their failure that’s frustrating.

If he was facing Federer then he would nail more of those BPs because he’s not as scary as Djokovic on other side of net.

With Djokovic, you know he won’t miss so there’s more pressure on every shot to hit closer to the lines.

Most of those BPs were saved by amazing Djokovic play. Federer and Nadal are just as bad at playing the big points vs Djokovic so you can’t pin this on the nextgen… he is simply too good.

He beat Van de Zandschulp, Bedene, Ivashka, Pella, Hurkacz, and FAA (who would've lost to Kyrgios if he didn't get injured) to make the final.

One of the kindest draws for a first time finalist I've ever seen.

If Stan didnt choke im sure others could survive seing the scary Djokovic on the other side too. Even glasikori managed to beat him in a slam. If the youngsters choke just by seeing Nole they deserve all the critics they get.

Wasn't it windy for the Nishikori match? Novak can turn into a pretty ordinary player in the wind.

edit: Looks like it was the final that was windy.

Dont remember. My point is that Djokovic was definetly beatable 2011-2016. Its tragic to see every youngster completely brake down mentally in 2021. And lets be honest, fridays Djokovic was definetly beatable.

The only thing that will stop the whining is results. It's not enough to make finals, they have to beat Djokovic (the only Big 3er still making finals) to win it.
