Besides roddick , do u think any other americans have a chance of entering the top 10 this season??????????????????? Discuss.

Isner has a good chance, if he can play his strength's (serve & forehand) and is fully recovered from that ankle injury and can stay healthy for the rest of the season. I expect him to finish 2011 at least top 15. :)

Mardy has shone what he is capable of during the us hard court run last year, but can he keep his level of game and improved fitness up to be one of the elite 10? I say has a good beginning to the season, but an average rest to the year. And having to defend all those points come the Us Open, i say he finishes the year in the top 25 :-?

Sam Querrey has a great all around game that can bring him to the top echelon of mens tennis. But, i dont exactly quite see him getting there just yet, maybe next year if he improves his mental game and gains more experience. same as isner, top 15 :)

Harrison? :P Great talent, a few more years and he just might get there

Probably not. Mardy has the best shot, but I'm not sure he will do it. Lets wait until Harrison cracks the top 100 to start worrying about his top 10 potential. I actually think his brother, Christian, might have a better shot at making it big. Usually the youngest in a family ends up being the most successful at sports.

Very true, and i heard about Christian as well. A few years back i saw him hitting with Johnny Mac at the Us Open on a practice court and boy does that kid have potential...

I think the only one able to be in top 10 at the end of 2011 is Mardy Fish. Obviously, he need to stay healthy. He showed last US summer that he's able to do somes good results for the entire year.

I don't expect any of them to finish in the top ten, but I think Isner has the best chance.

To get into the top ten you need around 3,000 points which means some good results at the slams and master 1000 tournaments. Querry so far has done really well at smaller tournaments, but not so much at the bigger ones. And Fish is not consistent enough. With his big serve Isner has a shot to go deep in some of the bigger tournaments on faster surfaces if he is on and gets a good draw.

by that logic, Joker's younger brothers will overtake him, but his brother (Marko I believe it is) who turned pro same year as and is a year older than Harrison is far below Ryan in the rankings and earnings. So Ryan's brother may not overtake him

and there are exceptions to the rule. They'll be a teriffic doubles team though

I think Isner has the best shot, I don't think Mardy will keep up his summer success. Isner has R1 points at Wimbledon and if he'd been healthy could have gone further at the USO. another year on tour he is only going to improve and will probably break top 10 but doubtful he will finish the year there.

Sam seems to be stuck in the same place as always and I think at some point in his career he will be top 10 but not now.

Harrison could be a very good player on day but if he finishes top 50 this year that would be huge.

and yes i think Andy will be there.

I think all of them will have one shot in the top 10! But to stay there....it would take something special! I don't think all of them will do it in 2011 but over the years. It would be nice to Mardy put up a fantastic season like last year but over the whole season!

Harrison has the best potential to reach the top 10 in the long run but a realistic goal for him next year would be more like top 100 although I wouldn't be surprised if he finished inside or close to the top 75.

People have been talking about Querrey as the next American hope for some time now, he's nothing but a guy capable of cleaning up at 250/500 events right now. Can't see him cracking the top 10, though it isn't impossible.

Fish isn't getting any younger, tricky one to call, can expect to see him doing well in North America but whether he does anything of notice outside is questionable.

Isner should be in his prime right now, not sure how he's going to perform in his later twenties being such a big and heavy guys, injuries are bound to start kicking in. People were predicting him and Ferrero to be in the top 10 on this forum just before the clay court season this year, I disagreed and I'm going to stick by my word again next year, don't see much changing.

I think no American will finish in the top 10, including Roddick.

I hope Isner can make continue to improve and be healthy for the year. If so, I think he's our best hope for a new face in the top 10... in 2012.

Geeze man, I wasn't using him being younger as scientific proof that he'll overtake his older brother. I was just pointing out that, many times, the younger kids in a family end up being the ones who make it big. Your statement "Ryan's brother may not overtake him" is so obvious that there's really no need to say it.

I can see Mardy Fish doing it if he is able to maintain the level he had in the second half of 2010

sorry kinda took it too literally as scientific proof (actually frustrating not being able to find an example of the younger sports playing sibling not going farthest in sports)

I think none. If Isner continues to improve and does not get any injuries, he has a chance at becoming top 10 in a few years. But as of now, his weaknesses are too big to become top 10 material.
