I dont play usta tournaments, but I did make it to the high school state championships in Florida. Do you think any company will give any sort of discount package? I know its a longshot but it dosent hurt to try.

Dunlop will give you a package for sure if you tell them you went to state. takes a while for them to get back to you. Also, Mantis can give you a sponsorship with strings and grip. Dunlop can give you a bag, 3 rackets, some strings and some stencil stuff. And Mantis can give you a reel of string and some grip. That should cover everything you need.

Really! how do I prove to them that I went to state. The only place my name shows up is on a draw sheet at the fhsaa website. And how would I contact the companies. I really hope ur rite, u got my hopes up high:)

I hate to put your hopes down but everything may not be as easy as the above poster put it. In my state, making it to the state championships is not hard. Granted you're in Florida, but I have no idea what the high school competition is like down there. I assume that all the top ranked kids are at academies and not participating in high school tennis. Is there a certain round you got to that puts you above the crowd or something like that? In my state the high school championships are done through an individual tournament where a win gains points towards the team. If your team made the state championship then you need specific matches to show how well you did. I don't know how easily Dunlop gives out partial sponsorships but this seems like a bit of a stretch. Regardless, sending an email to Dunlop wouldn't hurt. Good luck.

First of all, congrats on your win. Did you beat any highly ranked players along the way? If so, circle them on the draw sheet along with their ranking and send it along with your letter. Good luck!

Yes, you'll get the Dunlop package. I told them I went to state, and they just believed me. You just need to tell them that you play a lot and you can advertise Dunlop at your local club or whatever. Mantis has no requirements what so ever so you're good there.

Dunlop: kim.eppelsheimer@dunlopsports.com
Mantis: http://www.mantis-sport.com/sponsorship

With the Dunlop package you can get:
5 rackets, 10 pack bag, 2 reel of string, hats, shirt, stencil equipment for like 600$
Or you could get:
3 rackets, 10 pack bag, 1 reel of strings, hats, shirt, stencil equipment for 399$
And for 299$ you can get 2 rackets, 6 pack bag, a reel of string (I think) and some shirts, hats, and stencil stuff.

I didn't take the deal because I didn't like any of the Dunlop rackets...

I just emailed the rep. How long do they take to respond?

You getting sponsored without any usta tournaments is about as likely as sharapova stopping her screaming grunts.

Do you like using Dunlop racquets/equipment? Or are you just running around trying to get sponsors so that you can tell everyone that you are sponsored? I suffered from the latter a few years back. I had the opportunity to be sponsored by some "lower end" companies like Dunlop. I came to my senses and realized that it was not worth it to compromise the equipment I already use (Babolat racquets, adidas shoes etc.) just for the partial sponsorship. I have seen many people run around trying to get sponsors before too. While I don't know what your reason for wanting a sponsor is, I'm warning you that it's not worth compromising what equipment you already use just so that you can tell someone you have a partial sponsorship.

I know a couple of dunlop rackets that I dont mind playing with, but I have to admit I I'm just trying to get a sponsor. Mostly because my parents cant afford paying full price for rackets strings etc, but it would feel awsome knowing im sponsored.

After you stay with Mantis for a year they give you 60% even if you dont buy anything. Mantis also does racquets. I can get a set of string at mantis for $4. There's a place on their website. It says juniors they will get back to you in a day.

I too, laugh at this thread, but do realize it is real. My son went through the same stages in his junior career. Some kids make the sponsorship out to be way more than it really is. Once they get to be in high school or now college it dies down because he gets everything from his university. Nothing we say will change the original posters question but there is way more to junior tennis than getting a sponsorship.

Do you break a lot of strings each week?

I find that is where it gets pricey...

If yes to the question above, maybe invest about $500 for a stringing machine, and string your own racquets.
( yes, there are expensive ones out there, but you can purchase one for this amount)
Many, many juniors I know string their own racquets to help out with the cost.
