Given how comprehensive the 2020 French Open final destruction was for Nadal and given that it was played in cold clay conditions (so, more like hard-court than traditional clay), I really can't picture Djokovic ever beating Nadal again, regardless of surface.

Nadal seems to have improved his backhand to the extent that he gains the edge on Nadal forehand to Djokovic backhand exchanges AND Nadal backhand to Djokovic forehand exchanges.

Seems to be no play to go to for Djokovic. Nadal is fitter and can last longer in rallies too, so Djokovic just seems to mentally check out of rallies and go for a crappy drop-shot to lose the point.

If Tsitsipas can beat Nadal, then Djokovic will, unless they play on clay.

LOL I wanted Nadal in the final here....because what happend to Medvedev was going to happen to him. Not to be.
Which begs for the obvious question - what decided that Nadal was not there? Luck? Injury?
Or was it - Nadal's decision? An unconscious one? Causing cramps on a press conference?

I think Nadal was injured early on, and never recovered his full match fitness as a result, as soon as it went it tight in the third set, he wasn't conditioned enough to go much further. If he had somehow made to the final, he would have been very easy pickings for Novak.

Lol replace Medvedev with Nadal in this final and the result is basically the same. A straight sets disgracing of anyone. Nadal’s got him at the FO. Anywhere else and Djokovic is the favorite easy.

This year at RG he will
In your dreams. Djokovic will not pass from receiving a bagel and a straigth sets loss to suddenly defeat Nadal who has never lost a RG final. The AO is not RG. Different conditions. Djokovic is the AO king, Nadal is the RG king.
At Wimby it will be 20-20-20

Yeah sure. Djokovic will pass from receiving a bagel and a straigth sets loss to suddenly defeat Nadal who has never lost a RG final. The AO is not RG. Different codnitions. Djokovic is the AO king, Nadal is the RG king.

Nadal is the FO king for sure, but not sure Djokovic is the AO king. If Nadal had met Djokovic more times at the AO he would have a winning H2H record over him there. You can't say the same about Djokovic at the FO.

Outside australia at Major level no. On clay anywhere no.
At masters level yes.

Are you being serious right now?

Wow! Pretty nonsensical statement since Djokovic has beaten Nadal overtime they have played on hardcourt or grass since 2013 USO. In that same time Djokovic has also beaten Nadal 4 times on clay though none in the last few years.

Nadal knows someone else has to take out Djokovic for him to win a final against him unless it is on clay courts and even then it is not a given.

Not at USO no. He struggled with PCB last year for instance. Wimbledon depends on the weather.

Djokovic is the favorite against Nadal on grass these days, period, unless he's injured or out of form. Nadal hasn't won a set against Djokovic on hardcourt in going on 8 years but yea Djokovic can't beat him at the USO. I wouldn't expect anything less from you. How did that prediction before tonight's match turn out?

My prediction was great as i said Medvedev would win on current form he showed. He choked. Was possible and its great for Nadal and Federer he did.
Djokovic struggles in heat. If he and Nadal play on grass in 100f heat Nadal wins. If its cold and damp Djokovic wins.

Your prediction was great? More like dead wrong. When has it ever been 100 F at Wimbledon? The most it is is high 80s or around 90, and that's rare. London is usually cool and often gloomy when Wimbledon is played.

No fella i was spot on. I always am. I said Medvedev would win if he played as he had done. He didnt and lost. So i was right.

You were hyping Medvedev non-stop, implying Djokovic had no chance. You started a thread titled "chance of Djokovic's withdrawal". :-D If that isn't bad enough, you have been trolling non-stop with your negative comments about Djokovic the last two weeks. It seems like after tonight, you would be a bit more silent.

This guy is just a troll. I don't remember even one non-trolling comment from him. Please, don't think he is a Nadal fan. He clearly isn't.

No he is a Nadal fan, since that much is clear, but he has trolled continuously these last 2 weeks.

Nadal never beat Djokovic at AO. Lucky for him they've not met more times!

Why? I had nothing to lose today. Djokovic winning makes FO 2020 a bigger deal. Djokovic losing removed him from slam race for sure. Medvedev losing makes him less of a threat at majors.
I said after FO that the defeat may mean Djokovic never wins a major again. But i also said if he wins the AO 2021 it makes FO2020 even more significant.
I am more concerned by Federer than Djokovic. Federer for me is a massive threat at W. We could conceivably go into USO with 21-21-18 scenario.

FO 2020 was 4 months ago. Stop trying to make it current or the topic of the day. Today is about #18 and Djokovic inching closer to 20. This win is going to propel Djokovic to become even more predatory if he wasn't that enough. So keep thinking he's done or can't beat Nadal at Wimbledon or USO, because we know your predictions are most likely meaningless to what's going to happen in reality.

Whose seat would you rather be in? Nadal Federer or Djokovic?
FO 2020 is very significant. Your hypocrisy is funny as Djokovic fans are STILL posting 40-15.

It is hardly Novak's fault if Rafa not good enough not meet him in more hard/indoor court finals.

If they keep meeting only in clay court finals then Rafa might get edge in h2h but it would be a false picture.

Overall record is as below

Clay: Rafa leads 18-6
Outdoor hard: Novak leads 16-5
Indoor Hard : Novak leads 4-2
Grass: 2-2 although Novak retired injured in one of those matches

The most telling fact as well is that Rafa initially led their h2h 14-4 up until mid 2009. As soon as Novak started reaching his full potential he leads 25-13 in matches

If they play off clay, definitely. Even on clay who knows, certainly possible in Rome or Madrid.

When Nadal loses, it's always THIS or THAT for Nadfans!

I tell you why he lost to Tsisipas: because he couldn't hold his nerves. He was beating Tsi like a drum, until the 3rd tiebreak, when one of the most dependable overheads couldn't make several overheads! Nadal was holding his serves easily against Tsisipas in the final 2 sets, until the final service games of each set, when he was broken.

It was the very same thing against Thiem last year at AO. Nadal was a break up on Thiem in several sets, until his final service games when he was broken. And then proceeded to lose the tiebreaks.
In the same situation, Djokovic would've closed the deal most all the time; Federer nearly as often.

If you're a Nadal fan, Djokovic's win here makes him still a factor in the Slam race, and that is a loss for you no matter how you spin it. And you know it.

Lol "makes FO2020 even more significant" - what dafuq does that mean to anyone but you, and who do you expect to care.
