Will Eagnas PN 1012 clams fit and work with Gamma Progression?

I'm trying to save a little bit of money when buying some new clamps. Does anyone know if the Eagnas PN 1012 clamps would work with my Gamma Progression Table Top Crank Stringer? Thanks

I used Eagnas PN-1012 clamps on my Gamma 5003 with the Lever clamps. I prefer them over the Gamma 5 tooth clamps. At half the price they are a deal.

I have a Eagnas 710 combi but I go the other way around. I purchased the Gamma 5 tooth all steel clamp and it fits perfectly in my Eagnas. The Eagnas PN1012 3 tooth is perfect for Synthetic Gut and poly but the Gamma 5 tooth is much better for stringing natural gut and there's less ghosting on the string. Also I seriously don't think the Eagnas PN1012 is diamond dusted, it looks nothing like the Gamma 5 tooth clamp.

I would respectfully disagree. The Eagnas PN-1012 are the same design as the Babolat Star 3 & 4, and a usually an alternate replacment for Babolat clamps. I tried the Gamma clamps on my Flex 940, when I still had it, and they don't fit well. It's because the Eagnas base clamps have a taper at the bottom, where as the Gamma rod shafts don't taper. I've measured both the Gamma 5 tooth and PN-1012 clamps. They are both 12.00mm at the top, but the Eagnas tapers to 11.86mm at the bottom at the last 5mm or so. Also the Gamma clamps are 10mm longer.

As for ghosting that's more attributed to clamp pressure than surface texture. The Gamma clamps have a rougher surface than the Eagnas clamps. The Eagnas clamps have a diamond coated surface, it's just much finer. The Gamma clamps in my experience, tends to scratch the coating on Polys than the Eagnas clamps.

Here is a side by side comparison of the two clamps.

Lakers?

When I look at your picture of gamma clamps side by side with the eagnas clamp...i'm worried that the eagnas clamp will be too short? Am I correct in worrying about the length?

Not really. I use them on my Gamma 5003 all the time. You just can't use the Gamma clamps on the Eagnas Cone Lock base clamps. I have not tried the Gamma clamps on the Eagnas Lever bases.

I'm almost willing to trade you my Gamma Clamps for the Eagnas PN-1012 if you are not happy with them, but I don't think you will be disappointed with the Eagnas.

OK sounds good..I appreciate your help. I'm a novice stringer that pretty much knows just enough to string my own rackets. Thanks a ton!!

I donno but it's just my personal expereince. I tried so many times with my PN1012 for texture string like Prince Topspin or softer string like natural gut. The clamp cannot possibly grip these type of strings tight without putting excessively pressure on the string. The only way I can use them is by inserting a business card in between. However the Gamma 5 tooth clamp just grip on the string no matter what. Don't get me wrong, I still use the PN1012 for normal synthetic gut or poly as it is easier to adjust and easier to string the cross. But I would prefer the Gamma 5 tooth clamp for any textured or soft strings.

Maybe we are using different machine but the PN1012 is actually too short for the Eagnas spring assist clamp base on my Combi710. I usually insert a binder clip to raise it closer to the string bed when I start the main and don't feel like using the starting clamp. IMHO, the taper on the bottom doesn't make any difference at all in terms of fitting. It simply allow you to insert the clamp into the base easier. The taper part won't even touch the base anyways while you're stringing.

The ones I have in the picture, are my second set I purchased recently for my Gamma. The original set I had on my 940 had an Orange Peel finish. The ones I have now have a smooth polished finish.

If you like the old style clamps with the springs, I remember reading it was a 7/8ths" x 7/8ths" spring. I have not run across the spring yet, but then again I have not really been looking for it.
