It wasn't their year in 2016. Just when Nadal seemed to be back to his clay best, he had to withdraw from RG. And Federer tried his best to make a historical run at Wimbledon but fell short in an injury filled season. They both decided to close the curtain on the 2016 season before it had ended (Federer in the summer and Nadal in the fall). I think they both made wise decisions and I think they will be back fitter and stronger than in 2016. I also believe they have a good chance to win a Grand Slam title (Nadal at RG, Federer at Wimbledon). Especially since Djokovic seems to have lost a spark and Murray - sorry, SIR Murray - hasn't that invincible aura, especially in the Grand Slam tournaments despite being the new world number 1.
So, what do you guys think: will Federer or Nadal win a Grand Slam title next year?
Below is a motivational video made for the fans of Federer and Nadal ahead of the 2017 season.
