Will Federer ever play another IMG Event?

With Federer scrapping the IMG run Miami from his 2013 schedule as well as not making an appearance in Abu Dhabi (also IMG run) will he ever play another event run by the sports management firm again?

Interesting to see that Nadal has also left IMG too, and he has also withdrawnfrom Abu Dhabi with a virus.

They are losing big names. Djokovic just signed but what is going on with that organisation?

And do you think Federer skipped Miami because IMG opposed Indian Wells prize money? Maybe he is trying to use his authority to make sure the ATP and IMG don't work against lesser ranked players for their own interests?

Wow you being a dedicated fan and blogger of RF I don't expect you joining this forum of trolls.:)

I think it's a combination of both IMG and schedule. He probably thought that the 6-week break in 2012 did him good and he won Madrid right after that. So why not go for an 8-week break? I think Fed will have a clear decision after his performance in the AO without any matches.

Love your blog posts by the way. :)

Haha I'm testing the water!

Yeah I think schedule plays a part too. Along with Miami courts getting installed with a top coat of sand paper practically.

Just weird how he skips that and Abu Dhabi. And the comments from the IMG guy in the middle east sound very sour grapes.

Thanks :)

These moves are the first body punches SexiRogi & GodlyTony are throwing to set up the KO shot they plan to lay on IMG's chin. It will not take long before RF Mgmt. becomes the pinnacle of sports/entertainment marketing. I wonder when current contracts for Rossdale/Stefani expire???

Oh Fed losing early in Miami this year could affect as well. He wouldn't bother defending 45 points when he can easily pick them up in Montreal.

IMG has heavy involvement at Wimbledon, US Open and Barclays ATP World Tour Finals - will he boycott those?

With those tournaments IMG only play a role in the retail/licensing side of things.

With Miami/Abu Dhabi there roles are much greater as they basically run the entire show from start to finish.

That's not the case with the three above, IMG are just sub contracted out to handle specific areas.

Welcome to these boards!

If you can get past the trolling, name calling and general immaturity that goes on with any online community, there are a lot of genuinely interesting tennis topics and scenarios discussed here. Not to speak of the resident stat gurus who can cull up any sort of information to back up their opinions.

I think mainstream tennis writers/bloggers do skim these boards from time to time to keep a finger on the pulse of tennis fans so to speak.

My only request is that however inconsequential it may seem, if you find some original ideas emanating from these boards that you want to use or elaborate on more professionally, please give some passing credit to TW users. I know it seems like a funny request to credit anonymous avatars on a tennis board, but if you find it useful enough, what's the difference if it comes from Pete Bodo or Jonnny123

Hey Nikdom,

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try to keep up with posts here and participate when I can.

I'm sure I will elaborate on ideas I get from this board (not sure if it will be more professional however!) and I will gladly credit users here. The fans point of view is far more interesting than the journos to me anyway.

If I was Federer, I would call all Masters tournaments and asked them to send their proposals. Whoever pays more gets to see the GOAT.

All business, nothing personal.
