Gasquet isn't consistent enough to have a long stay in the top ten. Period.

Gasquet is overrated. People here compare him backhand to backhand, forehand to forehand. Then he looks good. Esp. on the backhand side. However, that guy needs an awful lot of time, and stands 20 feet behind the baseline because of that. He doesn't have the power and consistency to do that like Nadal.

I'd take Federer's backhandside over his overrated backhandside any day of the week (Note: not his STROKE, but the whole package).

he should be back in the top10 next monday (and be the alternate at the WTF)... a reward for a decent year, i guess, despite losing his last 2 matches.

That plus he very rarely beats higher ranked players. Especialy the current top 7 or so. Without those big wins it is almost impossible to stay ranked that high unless you are uber consistent.

Exactly. That's why he's destined to being a top 20 player for the rest of his career with stints in the lower part of the top 10. If he can't beat the players ranked above him, he won't be getting the points needed in order to advance to a higher ranking.

Gasquet is overrated in my opinion.
His backhand is great obviously but his forehand is really a weakness especially his rally forehand, too short at times and the rest of his game is above average.
