Novak Djokovic achieved the number 1 ranking on July 4, 2011 at 24 years and 2 months.

Will Jannik Sinner reach the #1 ranking before he turns 24?

Are you implying that it would be meaningless or have less significance if he reaches No1?

Because if that’s the case, then Murray’s No1 is insignificant, and so are the No1s of Sampras, Lendl, Edberg, Agassi, Courier etc, as they never had peak Federer and Nadal to hold them back.

Whose to say that Alcaraz and other upcoming youngsters, together with Sinner, won’t combine to produce an era similar to what we saw in the early to mid 90s, or of the 80s?

Until he reaches a form where he can consistently fight for number 1, its difficult to say, and there are other variables, if sinner and Alcaraz are on top form It Will be very hard for anyone to reach or keep number 1 for long

Exactly. Novak not stopping sinner in rankings doesn't mean he can't beat sinner. He is 36.8 now. He only cares about the hardware.

Sinner doesnt have the Game to "dominate" people are not gonna let him just hit them out the court, Djokovic wont be in much worse form than last season, you can count on that, even if he doesnt have a lot left, there will be no carrot dominance, maybe he will win some slams, maybe he will reach number one, but dont expect a dominance, that wont happen yet

Djokovic looked incredibly old and incredibly finished during his last match.

Until he proves that he is not Finnish, I’m going to assume he is who he showed us in the SF: an old man who played pathetically, signaling that he can no longer keep up with the young bucks anymore.

Thats very naive man, its obvious he was in an awful day, which is more normal with age yeah, but a month before he cliped sinner in a final that sinner needed much more and while sinner was in the best form of his life, Djokovic will adapt his calendar, he will focus on the events he really wants to win, and there he will always be a top contender, he reached australian semis playing like crap, you should look at that too, taking just last match as, an indicator of what will happen during the year is a mistake, one has to look further than that

Before all this whining, you should have read the title of the thread by my dear friend @dking68 who asked whether Sinner would reach #1 spot at an age younger than the one at which Djokovic became #1. So in that context, what hindered Djokovic from being #1 from late 2007 itself was the duopoly of peak Rafa & Roger.

So in THAT context, Rafa & Roger being mentioned is a valid argument.

Djokovic's last chance to defeat Sinner will be Wimbledon 2024, where he will still have a slight advantage.
When Sinner turns 23, he won't lose to the old Serbian wolf again.
