Daniil Medevedev finally got the job done at the US Open in 2021 to notch one for the Little 3 and made some finals since, Stefanos Tsitsipas has made two finals and Alexander Zverev made his second just this year (AO 2025).

And now as they enter the decisive part of their careers, can one of them bag a second major? The Big 3 are all but ghosts, Carlitos and Jannik have picked up the mantle of rightful heirs, but there is still potentially a small window of opportunity. Can one of them break through?

Here we go again.

Can they win (or as in the case of Medvedev win again) a slam?

Yes

But as has essentially happened since the 2019 US Open, fate in this perspective no longer depends on them but on others (in this case first on Djokodal and now on Sinneraz).

Sinner vs Tsitsipas in the Roland Garros quarter-finals should be fun.
:)

I’m interested to see where this new confidence in Stefanos takes him in Roland Garros if he continues this hot streak going into Miami and then Monte Carlo. He seems to be opening up his game with more heavy top spin against Matteo berretini today.

Medvedev you’ll have to wait til grass season. I’m not expecting much from him on clay. Grass through the EOY you’ll be able to judge. He seems to be getting himself back in form after saying he barely picked up a racket this off-season.

Zverev: idk. He couldn’t close dom Thiem who was gassed going into that 2020 final. He was outplaying Carlos through 3 sets in the French then just tightened up. I think there’s more hope for med and Titsipas to get a 2nd and first vs zverev despite zverev looking like the better player yet doesn’t play well against Medvedev.

I honestly didn't know that Zed and Tsitsi had won their first.
Shows you how out of touch I am with ATP tennis.

It is called wishful thinking. Zverev would need all other players to take a cruise on Titanic II, then get shipwrecked on Gilligan's Island for the duration of a major in order for him to win even one. Up to this point in his career, nothing else has helped him, certainly not his alleged talent.

This was your very first sentence:

Will Med, Zverev, or Tsitsipas win a second major?

I can't read your mind if that is not what you meant to post.

I said in the OP. You said I didn't say it in the post you quoted...which is the OP.

This is the post you quoted:

Not in the post I read and quoted, nor in the Title of the thread.
The Title is always the OP. You can't change that.

I literally said it there. Own up.

I like the change in Tsitsipas since Dubai. But I would be reluctant to say he is winning a slam. I need to see more from him, having said that, he is finding some good form in the lead up to his favorite slam, RG. So lets see. Right now he is still an outsider from the slam winner perspective.

Zverev also has a chance at RG, but how much have the recent slam losses taken out of him. His form dropped post AO final, he needs to find it.

Med - The less said the better. Win at least a 250 first.

At this point I think it’s less likely than likely. I think Stef has the best chances game wise. He has the head and game for it imo, he’s willing to put the match on his racquet and go for his shots. My issue is his severe matchup issue with Carlos. His best shot for a slam comes at Roland Garros, where I believe he can beat Sinner, but I really do not like his chances against Carlos, the matchup is really unfavourable to him (though I suppose we will have to see how the resurgent stef matches up against him). Meanwhile I don’t see any reason to believe that his game now could work on grass, and on hard I struggle to see how he’ll get past Sinner. Unless he has an insane 2 weeks or great draw luck, I find it hard to see a path to a slam for him.

Zverev lacks the head frankly, I will always trust his ability to choke spectacularly in a career defining final. He doesn’t have what it takes. Medvedev has not kept pace with the changes in the conditions it feels like. He has to work way too hard to win throughout the course of the tournament, and his body cannot keep up with the load he has to take to make it deep. And even if he did make it deep, he lacks the weapons versus the other big guys. He is being outgunned lately, and I don’t see that changing.

I´m with you here - additionally, if Stef goes for a haircut and sleeveless shirt he will beat Carlos at RG easily :)
Joke aside...I don´t know if it´s the racquet switch or something else but I can see definitely a change in his game and what´s more important - his attitude nowadays. He´s aggressive, he´s going for the shots...I´m seeing the old hungry Stef there on the courts right now. And that´s great! I´d wish him to make some noise this year to make some competition to Carlos and Sinner. Haven´t seen him this year on clay so far and that will be very interesting. The surface in IW seems to be in his favor, he played a great match against Berrettini, his FH is on fire so it´s fun to watch his matches again. The matchup with Carlos will be a critical one but Carlos has also shown lately that he has some weak moments (Lehecka loss e.g.) so...very interesting RG in front of us.

Zverev - no idea what´s wrong with him since AO, his biggest and most improved weapon - serve - has gone into the toilet, FH not even mentioning...the guy looks very unhappy on the court like he doesn´t even want to be there. Lot of issues with the head obviously in his case, not sure if it´s the pressure he´s putting on himself or whatever but I wouldn´t bet my money on him at all.
