Who has been waiting for Djokovic and Nadal? Do you think Sampras too would have a Murray-like career in their presence?

I am a Nadal fan, but I must be honest and say the tour has never been worse than 2016-2021. Absolutely no new stars. Federer had to play 2/3 of the best players ever at their hungriest and best. He was born 5/6 years earlier than the other two. Is this difficult for you to comprehend?

You're probably one of those guys who constantly trolls, just because it's fun, but if not you're truly underestimating Federer's ability.
I was mostly trolling. I think Fed would have 10-12 slams if he grew up at the same time as Djokodal, and I still think he'd be third best. Ability wise he may be slightly ahead of them, but his mental intangibles are very weak for a tier 1 ATG, so he'd lose the big ones to them more often than not like he has in real life.

And as for Fed having to face Djokodal at their hungriest/best, I think that's karma balancing the scales after he got to feast on the Vacuum Era (imo much weaker than what we currently have, simply because now we at least have 3 ATGs whereas before we just had Fed and Nadal on one surface) for 6 years (2003-07, 09) and 14 slams.

LOL at Fed fans' wishful thinking

You'll know when Nadal has surpassed Federer's slam record or Djokovic has broken Federer's weeks at No. 1 record because @TMF will create a dozen crazy threads in his frustration :-D

Nothing is a lock pal. Especially when history isn’t on his side since players don’t win a whole lot after the age 25. You should be thinking about him ever catching Sampras first.

Correction: passing Sampras was a given, the Nadal fans are simply watching to see if Nadal can pass Sampras with just his FO titles! LOL X 10,000 :-D

Not easy.. because in the beginning it was so exciting because it was all new to me and i was kind of in love with the whole community and being able to talk to other tennis nerds, it was a blast and also so much to learn. But there was a time around 2008-2010 that was really high quality i think.

Federer has won 7/8 last matches against Nadal. Perhaps he would have a better chance, if they were closer in age, since he ages pretty well?

Federer's H2H with Novak was positive until he was 35. Novak has had the fortune of meeting old Federer in many Wimbledon finals. Not taking anything away from Novak at all, but I don't think he would have won all of them with a Federer closer in age. In fact, I would have given Federer an edge. He was more impressive on grass at his peak. The Federer Rafa beat in 2008 was better than the versions Novak met in his finals.

I am pretty certain Federer would compete better against both, had he been the same age. He would have had a different game, more suited to beat the other two. Federer came from a transitioning era in tennis. When he started his career, every point was a serve and volley point in Wimbledon. Novak has had almost the same conditions his entire career, and this has helped his results. Rafa falls inbetween on this matter.

Karma? Please... The last 5 seasons have not been strong at all, and Nadal and Djokovic have taken more advantage than Federer (who has had lots of physical problems).

Nadal is a strong grass player. Would have had 4/5 Wimbledons without Federer.

Djokovic and Federer are basically the same level at Roland Garros, but Federer would have had more titles without Nadal than Djokovic. Of course, it's hard to know how anything would play out if they were the same age, but you seem to have all the answers, Petey?

They probably will, and it's quite natural. Records get broken.

Great players, all three - and they all have moronic fans ;)

The reason why I chose "Federer will always have the better career" is because of many reasons.

  • He has a more balanced/complete resume
  • More versatile player
  • More time spending at the top in men's ranking
  • He's the most dominant player of all time during his peak/prime years(2004-2009)
  • He owns most of the ATP records/winning streaks
  • Longevity

Subjective opinion is strongly backup with all the stats. Performance/result is the most objective metric.

Nadal on has 209 weeks, I don't think he will catch Federer who is the first player to reach 300.

According to Ultimate Tennis Statistics, Federer holds the most ATP record with 335, Nadal is a distance second with 175, Connors 159, then Djokovic 157

Not denying that but the most important records of Federer are about to be broken so Nadal will surpass him and then Djokovic also. That's the point.
