Will Nadal surpass Federer?
Actually with all the threads about whether Nadal has surpassed players like Lendl or others I thought it would be more interesting to see people's opinions if Nadal will ever surpass Federer. Now bear in mind I don't think it is that close yet but Nadal is a number of years younger than Federer and who knows in the future.

Here's some of the stats
Federer-Born August 8,1981
Nadal-Born June 3, 1986
Federer-Career won-lost 722-172 for a percentage of .8076
Nadal-Career won-lost 460-98 for a percentage of .8244
Federer-Majors won-majors entered-16 majors won out of 46 entered-.348
Nadal-Majors won-majors entered-9 majors won out of 26 entered-.346
Federer-63 tournaments won out of 227 entered for .2775
Nadal-42 tournaments won out of 136 entered or .3088

So right now Nadal has a better lifetime winning percentage, wins more tournaments by percentage than Federer.

Federer wins more tournaments by percentage in majors by a fraction, he's won more overall tournaments and more overall majors.

but they are not, so it's all coulda, woulda, shoulda, as you *******s like to put it so much!

Oh, I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that Nadal will end up being regarded as a greater player than Federer, and the GOAT. That's almost guaranteed.

I'm just saying that even now, Nadal is statistically a better tennis player.

He's just better all around. No need to cry about it, champ.

Nadal is on the verge of achieving a 90% win/loss record this year.

At the same age Federer already had one, was on the cusp of doing it again, and would go on to do it again the following year for a third consecutive 90%+ yearly win/loss %.

Let's wait and see what happens next, yeah?

The stats will only get worse as he gets older. Federer will be miles ahead by the time Rafa is finished his career.

It's debatable because you figure that it's quite possible Nadal's stats may improve for a few years and enter a decline period late. I think generally speaking tennis players are pretty close to their best years at age 24 and it may last for a few years. Thing is with Nadal is his injury history so you do get concerned that perhaps knee problems may damage his career.

As it stands how Nadal is 100% a better player and that is a fact.

Will he end up with more number? It seems very likely, but you never know.

I say let history write itself.

The ****s are so sour now, the count Nadal out every year. And this is where they are now = in the gutter.

Will have to see where/when peak Nadal is. The age bracket of 24-27 is where Roger really shined and picked up his pace tremendously (winning 10 slams out of 16). He was never that great "early on". We'll see if Nadal peaks early and falls off...or if he keeps pace...or if he excels even more, as he enters this critical 24-27 bracket. Sampras was the closest at 6 slams in the same bracket.

If Nadal keeps his current pace for another few years he will overtake Federer.

Yeah and the bandwagon Nadal fans don't exist... How about the ones that were doubting him during late 09 and early this year. Leave your man while he's down but crawl back and declaring yourself fans after he starts winnign everything in sight, pathetic.

****ing hypocrites

Fact, Nadal is #1 with most tournaments won this year = Nadal best player there is right now.

****s are so ignorant they can't see past their egos LOL

It's called #1 for a reason fool!

The OP is addressing their careers and how they stack up now and in the coming years, not just this year.

Federer hasn't retired, he's not down for the count yet and has atleas a couple of majors left in him before he calls it quits. Nadal I have no doubt will go on continuing to win majors but to match or exceed Federer who may win another two or three(far cry) and Nadal's injury record looks like a daunting task for Nadal

Look ****, learn how to read. This thread is not talking about who is the number 1 right now. It is asking if Nadal will surpass Federer, which he can, but you saying "as it stands HOW, Nadal is 100% a better player....". Really? I wonder why he still behind in achievements compared to Sampras, Borg, Federer, and Laver.

Lol Nards are so ignorant that they cant read what the thread is about.

The thread is called "will Nadal surpass Federer?" for a reason fool! Take your Nadal lust to another thread and boast about his well deserved world number 1 ranking.

You are nuts, we were all there and supporting him. We even supported your lame duck Roger when he was down and all his fickle fans skipped out like you ****s are doing right now!

Bandwagon??? His fans have been around since 2005, we knew he was going to be big. You ****s have denied it this whole time, talk about delusional LOL

We aren't like you shallow ****s, we enjoy Nadal because he does the impossible

Well Fed will always be the greatest no matter what nadal does, its just if nadal manages to surpass fed's records which i doubt will ever happen even though he has got off to a quicker start than fed it just means he will end sooner.

Well this happens every time Rafa wins a little. The ****s will calm down once again when things get back to normal.

Uh yeah so Nadal had a really good year, therefore he's GOAT...'cause Federer never had a really good year before, definitely not 3 in a row, or 4 in a row, or 5 in a row, or anything like that. 2010 shows that Nadal is better than Federer ever was...not. People forget the "weak era" years where Federer made the whole field look weak.

Not again. Seriously can't the mods just make a sticky, as a battleground where all these threads can be put into one.

Actually Roger also made Rafa cry at W07, except Rafa was not man enough to do it in front of the crowd, he did it in the locker room instead.

God, the board is filled with those useless threads. How many threads are needed to discuss Nadal/Federer/GOATs?

Isn't there anything interesting about Nalbandian or something?

Actually very interesting. Nalbandian insinuated that the question of whether Nadal has been doping has been debated quite intensely.

Roger won't do any crying, just his pretentious fans will as they are doing now.

There was an article written on it, I'm sure some other poster will be happy to oblige you with the proof. I cannot be bothered. By the way it's harder to get video proof when you are whimpering in a locker room.

Ha Ha HAAAAAAAAAAAA do i have to comment?!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

Uh huh sure, there were a ton of Nadal fans that stop backing him after his slump which was deplorable. Most are civil while there are the very vocal minority that are glorified fanboys. Needless to say you're part of the latter... And emphasis the fact that I emphasizedSOME, I in no way spoke about all Rafa fans. I commend the Rafa fans that stuck by their guy in even the darkest times.

So go ahead, label all Fed fans as shallow, something you have little to base upon and continue to throw at me your laughable and childish taunts and insults (****? lol the apex of creativity) At least use whats left of your cognitive abilities to comprehend key words of my post. Till then, you're not worth wasting a reply on.

Dude/dudette, nadal has like 80% more points than federer. If federer doesn't pick it up nadal is going to "surpass" federer twice this year! :)

The term "better" career is rather subjective; but if you simply take into account the total number of GS tournaments, then Nadal could possibly overtake Federer by the end of his career. The only way Fed can prevent that is if he keeps winning slam tournaments well into his thirties (also a possibility given Federer's longevity and the seemingly effortless way he plays). Let's see what happens
