Will Nole surpass Nadal's weeks at nº1 before...

Next week will be week nº98 for Djokovic as nº1.

Next ones are Agassi ( 101 total weeks ) and Nadal ( 102 total weeks ).

Will Djokovic be able to mantain his nº1 for five or six (or more) weeks before Nadal takes it from him?

If Djokovic wins the final, he still may have a chance to end 2013 as nº1 (though unlikely).

Yes he will. He will keep #1 after USO and since
He also deserved to have more weeks at #1 than Nadal.

well the next big event is Shanghai that ends on the 13th of October which means the rankings would be updated on Monday the 14th, 5 weeks after the end of the USO.

But before that I think Nadal is playing the china open which Djokovic is defending.

If Djokovic wins the USO he will be over a 1000 points ahead soI don't think Nadal can surpass him before he adds another 5 weeks to make 103 weeks. If nadal wins the uso though then djokovic should be able to get 4 weeks at number 1 to equal Nadal but then Nadal should do well enough at the china open to overtake nole.

So basically if I am correct, Djokovic is certain to make 102 weeks but if he wins the USO it will be more most likely. Of course Nadal or djokovic could pull out of China.

I think for Djokovic toend the year as number one he not only has to win the USO and another masters and go deep in the remaining master and win or get to the finalof the WTF,but he has tohope Nadal skips a masters (not played paris is years) or goes out very early.

Everybody Seems to forget that in 2009 Nadal gave up the number 1 ranking due to Injury. He could have added 80 or 90 more weeks.

he got back to number one in 2010 around a year after he lost it, so how could he have added 80 or 90 weeks if he hadn't been injured in 2009? at most he could have added about 50.

Djokovic won't lose it. He'll win USO, China Open, Shanghai, Paris, and WTF. You heard it here first.

There is no such thing as "deserved to have". when ti comes to weeks at N1.

Weeks at N1 is determined by the mathematically objective point system.

"Deserved to have" is for the subjective human mind.

hmm I see, you all know whats going to happen don't you ?. :)

djokovic will get up to 102 wks at no1 rank to be level with rafa/****, then nadal will say "hey, you keep the no 1 chair warm for me no ?"

and nadal will run off into the distance in the world rank charts again (knees allowing:neutral:).

I thought it was his parents divorcing. You need to get your story straight.

Also he skipped two events. I don't think those two events would have made up the difference of all the tournaments he was fit to play in (and so did play in).

Could have

You always can say 'could have'. Federer if he hadn't got Glandular Fever (late 2007/2008) and bad back (late 2008/2009) would have had another 50 weeks in 2008/2009. We just have to accept what is.

From Roland Garros 2009 to Wimbledon 2011 he would have stayed at no.1

Doesn't matter how he lost he gave up his number 1 ranking by not playing Wimby . He would have stayed at number for longer.

If he wins the final, there is a good chance of that happening. Remember he has a 1500 WTF points advantage over Nadal.

Remember he also has to defend those points as well, along with Beijing, Shanghai, and then the AO next year.

He lost the nº1 after 2009 Wimbledon. He got it back after 2010 RG.

Had he not lost it, he would have had 48 more weeks.

Anyway, who cares? (Every player can play that game: "had I not been....").
