Straight sets this time?
No chance .
It seems only haters do it, so they must think it's offensive somehow?
It took him a long time, but I understand he was not fine and could barely stand to practice until he had the PRP treatment, so I don't know if it'd be the same this time.
I don't get the Ralph thing either
I know nadal fans disagree but I thought he was fairly good when he returned in 2009, had consistant results in post Wimbledon period which he didn't always, but got unlucky he had several matches with Djokovic, Davydenko and Delpo on HC. I think he needed to wait til clay season to get his confidence again though. If he can do anywher near that good (making semis and finals of events) that will be a good sign.
I just call him Ralph to express my undying affection for him,I guess.
Nadal? A mug? Hardly.
Yep. You don't agree?
No, because he's not a mug. He has won a great deal on tour and is the best French Open player in the history of the open era. He's clearly one of the best, even if I am a "fan" of Federer, I can admit he's an extremely talented player.
I think Nadal is more of a talented athlete than a talented tennis player. Player's like Fed and Djesus are talented at tennis more than Nadal is.
Ralph is out of practice,,will tough to get to the finals..
Nadal is different from other players in that he goes a while without a title at times, but when he does win, he usually picks up several. Most years in a 3 month span he wns at least 2 masters a slam and a 500. Some years he's added to that. Serious question, would you rather all these years he doesn't dominate clay but picks up one title every 2 months? And not even arguing about him dominating clay now or 2011 or whatever, but in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012 he won RG and at least 2 of the clay masters which is domination.
Lol this is priceless. Last time Federer beat Nadal in a slam? 2007. Last time Nadal beat Djokovic in a slam? 6 months ago  yet you won't stop the Nadal won't beat Djokovic crap. I have to hand it to you, sometimes you are a pretty good comedian.
Going a year+ in between titles for a guy ranked as high as he is is too long. That's what I was getting at.
So? And the last time Fed beat Nadal on outdoor hardcourt was in 2005 but he managed to do it this year didn't he? Fed ALWAYS has a chance against Nadal no matter where they play. Why do Fed fans write him off so quickly like this?
Ah, the delicious irony in this post
Nadal is indeed very talented but you're the farthest thing possible from being a Fed fan.
Furthermore it's not "hard" for you to admit Nadal's very talented given the fact that he's your hero/idol, though of course you don't "love" Nadal as nearly as much as you hate Fed (with whom you're obsessed basically).
Nobody is going to look back and say "Nadal didn't win a title for five months, thus isn't the true force behind clay". They're going to look back and say "wow, Nadal has 27 Masters and has won Roland Garros a record 10 times! This guy is the clay GOAT for sure". It doesn't matter that he goes long stretches without winning, as long as wins them.
That's true, Federer does always have a chance - outside slams. Depending on how Nadal is when he gets back, Federer may have a chance against Nadal in slams, too.
And my point is he makes up for it by winning titles in blocks. There's only one time he went a year without a title (in fact just under a year) which was between Rome 2009 and MC 2010. He has some other pretty long gaps, true. between RG 2006 and IW 2007 was about 9 months. Between Stuttgart 2007 and MC 2008 was about 9 months too, but then he won 8 tournaments in a short time.
The thing about outdoor hardcourts, I don't even give that much importantace. The difference between 5 sets and 3 is much bigger. I mean they played at the AO a few months before indian wells and surprise surprise Nadal won. Federer will only beat Nadal in a slam as either some sort of one off incrdible performance, or when Nadal's decline has matched Federer's. And Nadal being out injured means if he'splaying that bad, he won't even meet Federer. Federer is still a great player but the odds on him coming out consistantly good vs his main rivals in a best of 5 and lasting, are dropping. He can play good matches but not consistantly at the level needed to win slams, if he gets one next year I will be very pleased because it's still not a given. Even at the WTF, as good as Djokovic played, Federer had both sets under control and he sliped slightly. He should have won at least one of them but he couldn't keep up with Novak, which he could have a few years back.
lol writing Fed off quickly? You're F***ing with us now come on. You were on about Nadal not beating djokovic in a slam for almost 2 years (which was an inflated number since for a large part of that they hadn't even played) yet Fed not beating Nadal in nearly 6 years is too soon? Fed can beat Nadal in best of 3, best of 5 however does not look good.
You obviously don't read the entirety of my posts. I am a fan of all the top four, but prefer Federer over the others.
What? Because I think Fed always has a shot even though his fans are quick to write him off?
No, you absolutely don't, sell that crap to someone else.
Surly You don't get to 11 slams just by being a talented athlete. Nadal is more than just a physical player, he does have tennis skills as well you know, despite what trolls say.
He does have some tennis skills(not nearly as much as Fed or Cvac)but his main talent is his athletic ability. Nadal without his physicality does not win 11 slams. He's not talented enough tennis wise to do it.
Believe what you want, I don't care.
Zagor believes Nadal played the best tennis of his life by an overwhelming margin against Fed last year at the WTF where he hit a total of 3 whole winners and got bageled. That should be enough to tell you he is utterly hopeless. Lol.
Will do .
He seems like a very opinionated person.
Zag is one of the best posters on this site. He just has a bit of thing about outing 'faux' Sexi fans.
Here's what Nadal said recently about the AO during a radio interview:
I think that most Nadal fans know not to expect too much of him during the AO, so I think whoever (if anyone) thinks he has a good chance to go deep in the tournament is slightly delusional.
Rafa hasn't been a year without titles, he wouldn't have won a slam each year then.
You've heard haters too much. Of course Nadal is very talented.
I have to ask, why the hell are you a fan of Nadal? How is that even possible when you don't think he's a talented Tennis player?
No, there are plenty of athletic guys on tour but they don't have Nadal's hands to create those magic shots on the run, the same ball which they merely get back Nadal somehow ends up putting you on the defensive.
What do you mean by physicality? You do realize Fed and Novak are also terrific movers? Heck, Fed at 31 is still one of the best movers on tour.
Before them, the best player of the 90s Sampras was arguably the fastest guy on tour, then there was Borg, Laver etc.
Maybe, but he's also full of it when he says Nadal played the best tennis of his life by an overwhelming margin at the WTF last year against Fed. That is so much nonsense that I can't believe anyone could defend such a comment.
Yes he has, and the second part makes no sense.
Yes, athletically. Tennis wise he is lagging behind by quite a bit.
And you do ?
for once i will agree with you clarky nadal played like crap the whole tourney.
I was doing what you do all the time dear Clarky-trolling.
I do think Nadal played high level of tennis overall in 2011 (which would have probably been his best year ever without Novak 2.0) but not at WTF, it was one of his poorer performances in that tourney (still better than 2009 WTF).
No, you actually believe that because you even repeated it again after I said it was nonsense. I can also buy that you would think that way since you infected just about every Nadal match thread last year praising his supposed high level of play when everyone else on the planet could see he was playing like mess.
Clarky, you are the Queen when it comes to ridiculous hyperbole about Rafa (albeit negative hyperbole). It ill behoves you to complain about others doing similar.
Yeah, that was fun
Now you know how it feels Clarky but no I don't *really* believe it (regarding WTF not 2011 as a whole), the same as you for example don't really believe Novak (who barely won last year) is more a lock for 2013 AO than Nadal was (and probably still is) for FO, the same as you didn't believe last year that Novak was a lock to beat Nadal in FO final etc.
Yeah, such a mess that he was only losing to one player all year long (who played out of his skin and didn't lose a single match whole year till FO) while dominating the field and reaching his personal best 5 slam finals in a row, please.
I'd say at this point there is a better chance of Nadal not picking his butt constantly during a match than him winning the AO title.
OK, when has he been more than 12 months without winning a title?.
Separate names with a comma.
