Will Roger Federer recover mentally when he lost in the Wimbledon final 2019 against Novak Djokovic?

My point was that the line of thinking presented by terribleIVAN is the same as "it's better to lose in 1R than to lose in the final to your rival". And if you follow that logic to its end then it's better to sit on your couch and do nothing than to try at something and fail. I suspect it's because then you can say that he never had a chance to begin with and the loss doesn't matter. But objectively speaking going further in a tournament or going 5 sets instead of 3 will always be a better result. Subjectively tougher to swallow sure but objectively better.

You forgot the context.

And the context is about being the GOAT.

In THAT context, choking is much worse than not performing.

If the context isn't GOAT talk, then your assertion is right: better the lose after match points than in straight sets drubbing.

Same sort of age as Connors in his US open run of 91. He reached the semis with a grinder game style. I would never write Fed off at Wimbledon

Totally agree.

And you just KNOW he's going to try like crazy because being the pathological narcissist that he is, he loves his name in the papers.

See, 90s Clay would have happily embraced being Fox News and sending home the elitist Fed/CNN fans home in tears. Jon Stewart? What the hell?
Ya Stewart is an elitist latte liberal but he's known for calling out bias in the hilarious parody posing as a media these days

Zactly, why this is forgotten or worse yet not even considered is yet another example of the Wodgie narrative consuming common sense.

Lol so you're going to criticise Fed for trying?

I've been on Fed's case for the last 12 years because his overall fakeness.

Nothing wrong from being a bad sport but don't use the medias to promote your imaginary qualities for the sake of a few hundred mill. We're not brain dead. That's insulting people's intelligence.
