US Open 2009: Serena Williams loses to Kim Clijsters after 'foul-mouthed' outburst
Serena Williams was at the centre of extraordinary scenes at the US Open in the early hours of Sunday when she lost her crown after hurling threatening abuse at a line judge.

: Sam Stosur beats Serena Williams in final. Australia's Sam Stosur won her first Grand Slam title - but her US Open victory was overshadowed by Serena Williams's verbal abuse of the umpire.

US Open 2018: Serena Williams fined over outbursts during final. Serena Williams was fined $17,000 (£13,100) for the code violations that included calling the umpire a "liar" and "thief" in her US Open final loss.

And this is not the end of the list. Using racism, sexism, parentism and what not as a cover, she's become a disgrace to the sport of tennis. IMO it's high time to penalize her with something tangible like a 1-year ban instead of charging peanuts and permitting her to proceed with her abominable behavior.

The matter was handled with penalties imposed in the match and now fines post match as per the ordinary process in this type of situation. She shouldn't receive special treatment in either condemnation or exoneration.

as far as fines go people say " oh that's chump change she has millions" - but you have to have standard numerical fines cause if a 120 ranked player got a $17,000 it would be a major hit on income so if they hit her with a 200K fine or something then it would be a big argument that the USTA is hitting higher paid players with fines because they can get more money- If Bill Gates or I get a speeding ticket we get the same thing. So she was punished

This is why I would do away with fines & adopt a ban for the next slam in extreme cases like this, or start docking ranking points. You cannot hurt the top players in their wallet, so the only way to punish them is to hurt their ego.

She is every time she looks in a mirror, or steps on a scale. I'll be surprised if she comes back for the Oz Open. She's gonna say to herself & every one in her posse, "F*** TENNIS! IT OWES ME AN APOLOGY, ALL I'VE DONE FOR IT!" And she'll eat... and eat... yell at her kid, then, eat some more. And she'll party, party, party even more than usual, and put on even more weight. Then all of a sudden it's 2019, and the only thing that fits are the three beach towels sewn end to end that barely cover her.

I watched Gulbus smash 4 rackets in a 5 set loss and got no warnings or penalties I have sat next to coaches who are coaching the whole match and nobody said anything. This is the final of the US open and this crap happens, All that was needed of the official was to turn off the mike and tell Serena to tell her coach to chill, Nice try idiot
Try that excuse when you are caught speeding.

Actually there was something like that in ITF rules. It was widely discussed when in 2009 this very same Mrs.Williams (or whatever her married name is) abused a line judge threatening to murder her by means of pushing a tennis ball down her throat. Most of the public thought she would be banned from Australian Open. Nothing doing. She paid some 190 000 USD, and got away with it.

The worst argument she made during her tirade wasn’t the daughter excuse, although I give that a 10 in entertainment value.
The singe worst argument was:
“Wah, this always happens to me here!”
That just proves she’s the problem.
If she said,” I have a spotless record here, what is going on?”
That would have had more weight.

I'd agree with you but then she doesn't have a problem at any other slam or tournament in general. So she does sort of have a point in that regard.

She's never had a problem at wimbledon, FO or AO where she's been beaten numerous times. Some with a lot worse scoreline than the one inflicted by Osaka.

Seems to me she just can't handle losing in front of her home crowd.

Not a lot of players would. Players like Fed, Nadal and Djokovic don't have a home slam. And we've seen how a lot of players end up choking and having different emotions and behaviours to their usual self outside of their home tournament.Considering she's lost 10 times now at the US open with 2 incidents against her (09/18) and the US QF 04 in her favor over the span of 20 years.

She’s had plenty on incidents outside of the USO. The officials are the same around the world. The only person responsible is Serena herself.
Please bring up one that has had the same coverage that her US open incidents have had.

Hell bring up one that has had even 1/4 of the coverage, media and news outlets.

You didn’t specify that you wanted ones that were “HER fault”.

She’s thrown many temper tantrums, but it seems she likes to quadruple the ‘entitled biotch’ factor in front of the home crowd.
Well I was insinuating the ones that got as much traction in the media as the one that happened in the final. It's arguable whether the IW final got as much traction since there was no social media traction but I know for a fact the FO incident barely got any traction in the media.

Again where are these temper tantrums outside of the US open. If you call having a small disagreements with an umpire like every other player a temper tantrums outside of the US open then every single player has had temper tantrums.

I don’t have a problem with temper tantrums.

I have a problem with people playing the “oppressed” female minority card to avoid taking responsibility for the consequences of those tantrums.

At least I can recognise that and understand that. However saying that Serena has thrown MANY temper tantrums outside of the US open is simply wrong especially when you try to bring up incidents (Like FO and IW) when she didn't have a Temper tantrum and in fact kept her composure in the face of adversity.

Back to the original question: no.

As expected the cowards at the WTA - who are too spineless to eradicate one of the main issues that holds back the popularity of ladies tennis - shrieking - came to her defense. Ditto BJK.

In fact I expect the liberals at the USTA are planning a Serena statue for the grounds. Virtue Signaling - oh, the irony.

But she has had many temper tantrums. I’ve witnessed them with my own eyes lmao.

She’s an entitled brat. Her sister, by comparison, is a perfect example of humility and graciousness.

And I've asked you to provide sources or at least recall the matches where she did. ie who she was playing against or which umpire did she supposedly have a "temper tantrum" with.

I've seen the majority of her slam matches outside of US open and she's never had temper tantrums.

You want me to recall every match she’s sworn and smashed a racquet in?

HAHAHAHA there’s too many

So smashing a racket is now a temper tantrum. Okay. Then why aren't you slating other players for smashing rackets. Is she the only one that smashes rackets?

I don't know why you see someone smashing a racket as a temper tantrum. It happens for less than 2 seconds and is not directed at anyone but only yourself.
You seem to be clutching at straws here

As I said, because she’s the only one making herself into a victim after she was punished, WITH the support of mainstream media, former pros and smelly feminists.

She can GTFO.

She has problems with every tournament. Every time the public cheers for somebody else, she says that this public is racist. Williams said something similar about Roland Garros cheering surprise surprise for Virginie Razzano.

Both Williamses had a many-year long problem with Indian Wells. The public there boohed them for a match which was definitely fixed. They called the public racist and stopped coming to Indian Wells. I still don't understood why they were never fined for it - it has always been a mandatory tournament.

So very unfortumate that you don't know anything outside cats eating cheeseburgers, and somebody forces you to post in the tennis forums.
He says while posting on the 12th kazillion thread on the same topic that was beaten to death two days ago. Have at it you maverick.... go post tiger!

It's not only the lack of knowledge on your side, you didn't even care to read the opener. Why aske people to provide some proof, if you don't read it?

1) She has problems with every tournament? Lol nothing but wild exaggerated lies.

2)
Every time the public cheers for somebody else, she says that this public is racist.
Another lie. She's never said such a thing.

3) How can they have many year long problems with IW when they didn't show up for the majority of it. The public were booing her for something that wasn't her fault throughout the match (something that people are complaining about with the Osaka final even though the crowd we're booing the official and only during the end of the match).

The match fixing was only a rumour started by dementieva and other players who didn't like the sisters. There's no definitive proof of match fixing no matter how much you would like there to be. The only reasoning you have is because they are sisters that there must be match fixing.

4) They did pay a yearly fine. The fine is nothing big but it's something that they both got over. Maybe your sources are terrible because your lack of knowledge about the sisters is astounding.
