*In career Masters, I include the 9 Masters 1000 and *The* Masters (World Tour Finals)

Alcaraz is a beast in IW and Madrid. He also won Miami. But he seems to struggle in the other Masters 1000. He barely wins matches in Monte-Carlo, Rome, Canada and Paris. The conditions in Cincinnati, Shanghaï, Paris and Turin seem too fast for him. Last year he was lucky to reach the Cincinnati final, saving match points against Paul and Hurkacz. Monte-Carlo was always Djokovic and Federer's worst Masters, and based on the one match Alcaraz played there, he will clearly struggle in the windy conditions. Rome is immediately after Madrid and he is always injured or tired. A lot of players can upset him in these Masters. Will he be able to win everything one day?

Sinner's problem is clay. Still zero final on the surface barring his 250 win in Umag. I trust him to win Paris and Turin one day because he loves indoors, it's just a matter of time. He will most likely win IW very soon. And I have no doubt he will end up winning a clay Masters at some point, he wasn't that far in Monte-Carlo this year. But winning the 3 clay Masters (specially Madrid) will be more complicated. Can he win all 10 Masters one day?

Lendl never won IW and its equivalent wasn't a Masters1000 yet, but he won Philadelphia in 1986 so I guess his career Masters deserves to be validated too. Djokovic remains the only player who won the 10 current Masters at least once. Every other ATG including Nadal and Federer couldn't do it. In fact he did it twice. Even thrice for the mandatory Masters (Monte-Carlo is the only non-mandatory Masters 1000).

So will Alcaraz and/or Sinner do it? Another active player? Can they do it twice? Thrice? I will bump this thread if it comes true some day.

Vote and discuss.

Both are very complete.

But
Sinner is yet to win a big title on clay
Raz is weaker consistency wise on average

Both would be very close if not do it.

I think this will change so much in the next decade that this will kind of be a silly accomplishment. How many of these masters will even still be here a decade from now? How many will have been moved? How many will be changed in points?

Never thought this was an accomplishment to strive for.

Dont get me wrong, this is a great accomplishment, but not one Sinner nor Carlos the Shepherd will even begin to chase.

Alcaraz needs to adapt on fast surfaces and he'll do it. I think he'll complete CGM.
For Sinner I'm more worried about his fitness than for his clay recod.

Right and how many did rafa fall short of ? This is not for rafa fans at all. The guy can't even win fifth biggest event ever.

But even that is not important as is weeks at number 1.

The hits just keeps coming. This is embarrassing at this pt. If it was not infuriating, it would be very sad.

Sinner has already won 4 out of 9.
I have no doubt that Sinner has the potential to win every one of the Masters 1000s, there are no taboo tournaments for him.
This 2024 tells us that Sinner is competitive everywhere, and by competitive everywhere it doesn't mean winning all the tournaments but always giving yourself a big chance to win.
Those few matches (6) where Sinner lost this year always took place in balanced matches that could also turn in his favor, on any type of surface.

Sinner is the Djokovic of this generation, and here too it does not mean that he is destined to win as much or more than the Serbian, but that he has technical and mental solidity, as well as the ability to adapt to every surface against every type of opponent, exactly like that of Nole.

However, I am starting to think that to find analogies between the comparison and the parables of Sinner and Alcaraz, rather than remaining in the tennis field looking to the past, we need to cross over into another sport.
Between the two of them I see several similarities of the CR7(Sinner) vs Messi(Alcaraz) dualism, even the age difference coincides.

I think they both have the potential. But I think with the Slam Race being the pinnacle of the sport, Sinner and Alcaraz are already focusing on Slams over other tournaments a little too early in their careers. Big 3 seemed to use the Masters as a way to build their game and understand their opponents, only later in their careers would it take a back seat for Slam prep.

I think the tour in general has a lower threshhold to drop out of Masters if it can interfere with their chances at a slam.
Obviously lower ranked players might play if slighlty injured to get more points to make the cut for the masters.
But I think top 50 guys, are more likely to pull out if something isn't feeling right in a Master tourney that is close to a Slam.
