Will Sinner break Fed’s record for most consecutive wins at HC slams?

Will Jannick break Federer’s HC Slams’ matches winning streak?

Currently, Jannick has won 21 consecutive matches at HC slams, stretching back to R1 at last year’s AO. Roger holds the record for most consecutive wins at HC slams, being 40 wins between R1 of USO 2005 and SF of AO 2008 (5 slam wins followed by a SF). Will Jannick break this record.

For good measure, Borg holds the record for most consecutive wins on grass at slams with 41 and Rafa holds the record for clay with 39.

Roger has 40 on grass. He received a walkover against Haas in 2007.

It's hard to tell. Right now he's playing amazing but anything can happen in a few years. If I had to bet I'd say he won't.

He very well could, I think. Novak’s the only guy who can match his level on hard courts, but I don’t know if he has the physicality to bring that level to a big slam match after several prior best-of-five matches. Med’s serve has disappeared, otherwise he’d be close. Alcaraz is weakest by far on hard courts, otherwise he’d be a real threat to stop Jannik. Zverev and the rest just aren’t good enough.

Things change fast in tennis, though. Maybe next year, Alcaraz does figure out hard courts, for example. Or Medvedev gets back to holding 89% of the time. Also if Sinner misses this year’s US Open due to a doping ban, that definitely ruins any 1-to-1 comparison with Federer’s earlier streak. (I don’t think he will be banned that long, but it’s a possibility.)

But if I had to guess: Yes. He’s the next hard court great. Already starting to breathe down Federer’s and Djokovc’s necks.

Considering he'd have to win (or come close?) 2 more US Opens, I think it will be tough for his frail body given how he looked here when he had to play in the humidity against Rune.

Like, he did very well in that awful match against Draper last year, but if he had to play a Zverev or a Meddy or an Alcaraz in those conditions I don't know that it would have been so simple for him.

Actually ridiculous that Federer won 40 consecutive on hard and grass courts in slams. Truly the GOAT of fast surfaces

Great Bjorn Borg (not Fed) holds that record with 41 consecutive wins (1976-1981) on grass at Wimbledon.

From Wimbledon 2003 to 2007, Nadal, in the last edition of Federer's dominance at Wimbledon, was the only one to take him to the deciding set and came very close to dethroning him from the top.
