Out of that bunch I can only see - Tsitsi, Zverev, FAA, Fritz ( could see making a final) Rune and sinner…
The others I don’t think so even though I know all of them have at least made GS QF previously…

Gone for "Two of them" in the poll, think it'll be a bit of a crazy year with lots of unexpected QFists, SFists, finalists and maybe even a champion.

I think the list if potential slam champs stretches even farther than names listed, Going to be a wild year ahead.

I think there is a good chance we will see at least one. I wouldn't be surprised if Rune, Ruud, Tsitsipas, Rublev or Sinner sneak one this year. Zverev is on the radar as well depending on how he comes back after the injury.

Fritz over Sinner/Ruud? Not too sure about that one bud

Interesting that all of the maiden Slams have been the USO since Djokovic in 2008 with the sole exception of Wawrinka.

So, if there is a maiden Slam winner, it will likely be at the USO again.

Ruud can do it. You can't just reach two finals in one year off pure luck and vulturing, he's clearly doing something right. I think him and Felix have the biggest chances. Zverev should theoretically have the highest chance of any but not sure how his comeback from injury will go.

True.

An interesting thing is a history of failures when an 'I want to win my maiden title' candidate meets a former GS winner.

58 GS finals since AO08.
There were 20 unsuccessful attempts of a maiden GS win caused by a former GS champion:
2008 USO Federer def. Murray
2009 RG Federer def. Soderling
2010 AO Federer def. Murray
2010 RG Nadal def. Soderling
2010 WIM Nadal def. Berdych
2011 AO Djokovic def. Murray
2012 WIM Federer def. Murray
2013 RG Nadal def. Ferrer
2016 WIM Murray def. Raonic
2017 USO Nadal def. Anderson
2018 RG Nadal def. Thiem
2018 WIM Djokovic def. Anderson
2019 RG Nadal def. Thiem
2019 USO Nadal def. Medvedev
2020 AO Djokovic def. Thiem
2021 AO Djokovic def. Medvedev
2021 RG Djokovic def. Tsitsipas
2021 WIM Djokovic def. Berrettini
2022 RG Nadal def. Ruud
2022 WIM Djokovic def. Kyrgios

Ruud needs to face off against the right finalist to claim a title. He has no chance against a healthy-ish Nadal on clay or healthy Djokovic on HC/grass.

If Tiafoe sneaks past Alcaraz last September, Ruud has a good chance at the title. If Zverev hadn’t rolled his ankle, Ruud has a good chance at the title. If Djokovic had failed to garner a WTF appearance, Ruud has a good chance at the title.

Great talent but defensive baselining isn’t a feasible strategy against the best of the best when they are attacking well. And Alcaraz/FAA/Rune/Sinner are showing that they can hold up attacking play for entire tournaments.

I expect Ruud to win a RG and possibly a HC slam as well, but it may not be for a couple years. He’s too consistent to not have more chances during his prime.

The fact Norrie is included in the list makes me puke. If someone like Norrie wins a slam I don't care what anyone says - it's a weak friggin era. Out of the list I'd want Zverev, Tsit to win one the most as they've been the most consistent lurkers and have come the closest to deserve it.

Pretty impressive, sure. But this is mostly a list of Big 3 players beating up non-Big 3 players. It demonstrates how hard it's been to break their strangehold on the slams. Thiem, as good as he was, got lucky that he finally got Zverev in a slam-final (possibly the worst slam final, I can recall)

Interesting that all of the maiden Slams have been the USO since Djokovic in 2008 with the sole exception of Wawrinka.

Agree the US is most likely, but the reason is not just 'because it's been so in the past', but because Djokovic is a lot more unbeatable at the AO and W and at the FO you have Rafa, Djoko, Alcaraz.

Well you have to win 7 matches to win a slam so that’s a difficult task. On the men’s side with Alcaraz pulling out and Rafa now top seed will mean that Novak will go from 5th seed up to 4th which means he is in the same side of the draw as Rafa so there is a potential for a maiden championship coming from the bottom half of the draw with Casper and Tsitispas as possibilities. Have to see where Medvedev is seeded.

I predict a flash in the pan winner this year for the first time in a while. Someone who isn't listed above getting hot, making a run with the right draws and injuries. A person who might not win another grand slam again. Someone like a Shapo or PCB.

He'll lose this year, next year he shall win, then 2025 onwards we'll see a big decline, I feel so.
Against Djokovic? Because I still see no one else who could take 3 sets from him on Chatrier. Even if he's not in decent form before or injured for months.

On the Chatrier even Novak can't if Nadal is fit.
Lets see what happens, he'll be 1-2 month short of Rosewall's record if he wins this year.

Does Djokovic with an injured hamstring count as a new champion? We have to keep track in a new way as Nadal or Djokovic have won EVERY Slam that both have entered in the draw since the 2018AO.
