Probably gonna be up to each local league. Many of these leagues probably don't have deep enough pockets to do this. USTA, Each Section, Each District and the LLCs and Active have probably already taken their cuts. Unless Nationals is gonna foot the bill.IMO, this is the time for the USTA to step up and refund league fees to participants. What is your opinion?
Yeah, I think this is up to each area or district, perhaps done at a section level. In mine, my guess is for leagues that are completely canceled or for players that didn't get in a match in a partially played league, they get a credit for a future season.Probably gonna be up to each local league. Um, USTA Inc was sitting on $300+ million in net assets as of 12/31/17 so saying they are strapped for cash is a bit of an overstatement. And that $300+ million doesn't even include the National Tennis Center.NO, they should NOT. They are already strapped for cash as is,,, they can't afford to give out massive amount of league refund fees. It isn't their fault, this virus is making people not play tennis. We will just have to eat this one and hope USTA will have enough money next year to put up nationals and tournaments.. We may not have nationals for 2-3 years.

The choose to limit how much of their cash they invest into USTA League, so USTA League could be strapped for cash conceivably, but the USTA as a whole certainly is not.exactly, they are not strapped for cash. seriously people

2018 tax return. https://www.usta.com/content/dam/usta/pdfs/2018 USTA 990_Final_Public Inspection.pdf
p.24 is interesting. 19.5M for Player Development. Then a breakdown of grants to all the other Sections. Southern gets 11.3M whilst poor Mid-Atlantic only gets 2.6M. Give Southern a bit less this year to pay for all the other Section's league fees refunds.

Living in the DMV, I have no thought the Mid atlantic was that great. Bad league coordinators and Bad tournaments. Playing in the South is a much pleasurable experience.

The Mid Atlantic must have been hell on earth. The South has been terrible for about 15 years. Horrible league coordinators. They don't do squat except rake in the money.
I can only speak on the tournament experience. It was great, much better than the mid atlantic.
I'm a 100% complete unbiased observer, and I don't think they should refund your money, and here's why:
It might eventually affect my daughter's paycheck as she works at the National Campus in the Adult League department.
But that's just my unbiased opinion...
It is stupid hysteria to cancel leagues.IMO, this is the time for the USTA to step up and refund league fees to participants. What is your opinion?

It is not about just you & your opponent standing 60 ft away from each other. Its about all the door handles/water jugs/table tops/etc. you touched to & from the courts, and all the 'social interaction' that inevitably takes place before & after the match. It is stupid hysteria to cancel leagues.
You are telling me that playing a match with opponent 60 feet away is a high risk activity? And the typical match has about zero to 10 spectators.
Sadly typical...Here in Norcal, the spring league's been postponed (tentatively until Apr 20) but not cancelled, so nobody gets their league fees back.

USTA simply will transfer all league fees to next league session,, summer or fall or 2020. if all leagues are cancelled for summer then it will transfer to Fall. so don't worry your money is safe. All nationals will be cancelled at this point. lets take this opportunity to instill Dominator Thiem workout regiment and comeback stronger than ever and beat those lazy butt players that sat on the couch watching Netflix and Chill during this off season...……….Yoohoooooooooooo.
USTA should not refund any money in case the USO has to be postponed and they don't get to make any money.
Does everyone think USTA summer season is done? Have not heard anything official from local league.
I am in New England and 18 over starts mid May but for my team first match isn't until early June usually. I am thinking it will be cancelled but holding out hope.
That's too much like right for USTA to refund the money. It's funny they can tell us to stop playing in the middle of the season but then it's up to the local league to refund money.
Good one...refundLol refund...Usta lol.
Lol refund...Usta lol.

It is far more dangerous to be standing in line with hundreds of people at supermarket.
Best laugh I've had so far today. In fact when this thing calms down a bit USTA is going to increase rates. They are after all a nonprofit organization lolz and nonprofits need to to squeeze every bit of money out of you.
Also just take $10 off my yearly sub, I don't want the magazine, it's full of ads and I don't read it, why is this magazine a mandatory fee for usta membership (don't say it's free because nothing is free) ? Does tennis magazine owner or Chris Evert have so much pull that they automatically get to force a subscription on us.
First time I've heard that. They just said "stop playing" Never heard anything about a credit. I'll ask the captain about that.Haven't played USTA in a while...
IIRC, there was a yearly USTA membership fee of ~ $50 (free subscription to Tennis magazine!) . And then ~$20 to register for a local team. Plus a local league fee?
What refund are we talking about? The USTA yearly fee will not be refunded... And you will get a credit for $20 when registering next season or whenever it starts up.
So where is the problem?
First time I've heard that. They just said "stop playing" Never heard anything about a credit. I'll ask the captain about that.
I once signed up for a local team for ~$20. Ended up not playing a match.
In our recently completed 55+ 9.0 season, I was the **captain** and didn't play a single match. . .
