Will Völkl introduce a Tour 9 Gen II without the V-Engine gimmick?
I was wondering the same thing. The T10 G2's a little too heavy for me to use against better players and the T8 G2's too light. Say, something around 11.2 to 11.5oz, around 6-7pts. HL, 100sq. in. head, low 60s flex, open string pattern with the same great solid feel of the T10 and the easier playability of the T8.
The V-Engine9 is what you seem to be describing, altho it's got a stiffer feel to it. lighter weight and flexy is hard to come up with and still give you the punch you need. The new Cat8VE is a nice hit and the V1 Classic while a little lighter is more evenly balanced and does everything well. lots of good choices falling in your range.
The strangeness of T9VE is that is "too" powerful for rather flat strokes and too "weak" for top-spin strokes...
No and no.
The T9VE has plenty of controllable power. Hard to reach shots and slight mis-hits have enough depth to keep me in the point. Top is there w/16x19 version. It almost reminds me of a "grown up" V1, more controll, more manuverable and a better server. Slightly less forgiving than the V1 though.
In Europe there is a Tour 9 VE Extended frame available. Bright orange paintjob like the C9 Pros.
I hate the ugly throat bridge on the T9 VE
