Williams sisters to star in reality show on ABC

Just saw this on the wire. Don't know if this is being volleyed around or not on any of the other parts of these boards, but I didn't see it. Anyway, as long as they don't put this up against REAL tennis, I'll probably check this out. I want to see how "great" a designer Serena actually is. As long as they don't show the sisters spending major bling every episode a la' Newlyweds Nick and Jessica, this could be interesting. Especially, if Richard is as nuts in real life as he appears in interviews.

Williams Sisters to Bring Star Power to New Reality Show
Six-Episode Show Will Follow Their Off-Court Lives on ABC Family

BURBANK, Calif. (March 28) - Serena and Venus Williams will be starring in their version of a tennis reality show.

The sisters' off-court lives - their family, friends and the glamour of big-time tennis - will be featured in a six-episode show that is still untitled but set to premiere on ABC Family in July.

"The series will provide our fans with an up-close, inside look at our lives away from the tennis courts," Venus Williams said.

The sisters have won 11 major single titles between them and are competing at the Nasdaq-100 Open in Key Biscayne, Fla. Serena is ranked No. 4 in the world and Venus No. 9.

Serena Williams said she and her sister welcome the chance to "branch out into a new medium."

Sorry HookEmJeff but this is about the 3rd thread on this subject and I guess because of their overwhelming popularity:) of anything Serena or Venus they haven’t received many replies or acknowledgments and have been very quickly relegated to the bottom of the threads.

ESPN are you taking a hint at all from this board.

Yeah, I honestly hadn't seen anything on this until today. I knew Roddick was supposed to have one last year, but that was scratched. I hadn't heard or seen anything on this board about that. Oh well, sorry if I posted something that had already been discussed at length.

Actually HookemJeff your post was the most comprehensive of the lot so I personally give you an award. Keep up the good work but find a better, more popular subject is my only advice to you ;)

First someone convinces them that they have great fashion sense, now they convince them that they should have a reality show? This is getting out of hand! Honestly, I don't see this having any chance at all. I think the well known as "reality television" has finally dried out.

They don't have a show title yet??? Okay let me help ABC:

The Williams Sisters: The lives of the Biggest ******s in Tennis

The only thing that surprises me is that the other media wh*re of equal proportions - John McEnroe - isn't included in this ridiculous concept for a show.

You know the planet's gone to hell when the 'reality' shows get more PHONY with each passing day.

Yeah I've got two shows in the works this one and The Rickson and Raul show. I just need a few more stories about Raul and then I'll have something to present to Hollywood.

Raftermania, I'd rather see a show on a robot who's on the ATP tour masquerading as the world's number one, and his girlfriend is his creator. (I'm referring to one of your older threads.)

Yeah, I have my own title for a reality show. The Newlyweds - Jeff and Jessica Alba. Wait, that's fantasy tv...not reality. Sorry, my bad.

hehe, I'll have to add that to the projects list. If it gets any success I'll send you some royalties for giving me the idea

I wouldn't mind making a blockbuster movie about an undercover tennis agent who's dangerous mission of espionage is to plant top secret tennis stroke documents in her uncle's highly fortified tennis palace.

I have an idea - I will gladly watch aany and all shows starring the Williams sisters (well I won't realy watch them but they will be on tv) as long as freakin' ESPN shows us some other players instead of endless snorefests and repeats. While we're at it, why not start a Roddick show too. At least he has a personality and t might be fun to watch him.
