Wilson Blade 2024

What a sharp and shiny lead job..
Very nice. Pretty easy if you have the large rolls of lead (no creases) and just take a moment to line it up. The number of friends and other people I have seen that slap it on (presumably with a blindfold?) and just call it a day astounds me.

Not sure about that color. Looks like similar ballpark to dark green accents on the Percept which is a racquet that unfortunately looks as ugly in person as it does in photos. The Blade will likely look better because it won't have the light green and I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I finally saw the v9 blade in person. It’s pretty much like the pics and descriptions here. It is a dark teal color in the same type of paint as the v8 but without the color shifting. It has an orange W on one side of the throat which looks a bit odd. It’ll match my strings of choice nicely.

specs or it didn't happen

So an Orange W and a couple neon green grommets…. On a green/teal stick. Maybe the LE paint jobs will be slicker

I hope they leave the feel and flex geometry the same, and just add a bit of stiffness and power that comes from it. That would also slightly reduce dwell time, which can be a bit high in the 16m, although I'm not sure that's the best idea. And perhaps 18x19 instead of 18x20

They could also raise 16m to 320+ sw and leave the 18m at 325-327 as it is now

I will be sad to see the v8's good looks become history though

This whole generation was a huge step up in paint/finish quality from Wilson

SW all over the place as usual. Unstrung the 12 V8s I measured on my swingweight machine ranged from 272 to 302, unstrung...
That’s been a problem for Wilson, yet people still buy them. We measured a customers TF 40 Tecnifibre and they were very identical, same with the Pacifics:

Wilson also has a sale on. Stocking up on them Blade pro because retail def won't be glossy nor do I like the colourway for a glossy one either.

You will definitely be able to slide all black V8 Blade grommets into this frame.

Maybe stock up now if you plan on using this blade?

Hit with the new Blade today, 16x19 version, the cosmetic looks great, stability was improved. I’ll get my own next week so I’ll be able to expand more on my thoughts.
Also, there will be a new member of the Eco family of strings. Testing that as well.

So this looks like it fits within Wilson’s new quality control initiative with the Blades ?

It would seem that swingwight remains as is, slightly below 330 and 320 respectively. That's nice. 65 is also nice ;)

Spec printed on frame for 18x20 is 305g though?

My matched specs for my V8 Noirs;

sw291 306g 315mm
sw291 304g 315mm

And I swear they feel stiffer than my green V8s. Not nearly as anemic. Let the conspiracy begin.
