Wilson Blade 98CV 16x19 vs Pure Aero

Between the Wilson Blade 98CV 16x19 and Pure Aero, which one is better or can somebody explain how the blade compares to the pure aero since I am considering making a switch in my rackets.

They are completely different racquets. The Pure Aero is the best racquet for heavy forehands, but it's not very stable, especially at net or on serve. It's more of a tweener racquet, so not designed for a beginner (game improvement frame), but not designed for an advanced player (player frame) either. It's very powerful, very stiff, and great if you like to stick at the baseline and swing away at the ball. It is also extremely spin friendly.

The Blade leans a little more towards the players frame. It is a little heavier and more stable, but not quite as powerful. It is made for attacking players, so players that don't like to back off the baseline, but rather players that like to dictate points from right on the baseline and/or move inside the baseline to finish the point.

Both racquets are extremely popular. The Blade is probably the most common racquet used by advanced males. The Pure Aero is extremely popular, especially for juniors. Most players, once they get more advanced, will either switch to something similar to the Blade or will at least go for the Pure Aero Tour which is just a little heavier.

What are your thoughts on the Pure Strike 98 16x19?

Pure Strike is like the Babolat version of the Blade. It's a little bit stiffer and more powerful like basically every Babolat, but not as much as the Pure Aero. Another racquet good for blasting the ball, but more in between the Blade and Aero; not quite as stable as the Blade, but not as spin-friendly and powerful as the Aero.

I recently switched to pure strike from blade 98s 2015 for the exact same reason. I wanted a little more free power but without the stiff immediate response of pa/pd. Pure strike has the perfect blend of these two worlds.

Pure Strike is more stable than a blade. The twist weight of the Pure Strike is incredibly high.

That wasn't my experience at least. How did you measure twist weight? You can't measure twist weight with a swing weight machine like that part of the RDC. I could be off base here, I just personally feel more stability from the Blade, and I know twist weight is often misunderstood and misused. I also haven't used the Pure Strike all that often as I wasn't a huge fan.

See the linked thread. Reports 15.1 twist weight for the Pure Strike. Not surprising either based on my experience. The Pure Strike project 17 is one of the few stock racquets that I do not have to add weight to the hoop. I actually took sone off after adding it.

I just checked the TWU numbers myself. Not sure how exactly they're calculating twist weight, but it backs up my thought only because I had tried the old version of the Pure Strike, not the newest version. Apparently, at least with the TWU numbers, they added twist weight from the old to the new version; the old one is lower than the Blade, the newer one is higher than the Blade, so we were both correct in our statements, but you were more update on your information. My apologies, listen to that guy instead of me, haha.

Oh yeah, that explains it. The new Pure Strike project 17 plays way different than the old Pure Strike. Almost like two different racquets.

I’m looking for a racket with a more plow through and although I demoed the pure strike, blade, and pure aero recently they all had different strings at different tensions so it was hard for me to tell. Based off of my hitting style of a bigger stroke and i’m looking for a mix of power, spin, and control which rackets would you guys recommend? Thanks

sorry about that, i’m looking to be able to grind out shots from the baseline and usually don’t really attack the net that often unless i’m forced and i usually only volley during doubles.

So here is an underrated frame recommendation. Prince Textreme Warrior 100. Medium power, comfortable stiffness, massive spin and control. Great for heavy baseline hitters.
