Wilson Blade v10 2026

Is Taper really going to be the new name?
How about AXE, Zipper, etc..
New model..new opportunity to create a epic new naming convention.. also an opportunity to fail or remain status quo..
 
Ironically the "Blade" (cuts through the air!) is an apt name for an aero competitor.

I actually like what they did with the Ultra line and rewrapping old frames into that silo. If they wanted to release the Pro staff 85 and call it the Ultra 85 in a sweet deep blue PJ, I'd be all for it!
 
I wouldn't be surprised if the aero-throated frame that Kachanov is playing with, and that Tsitsipas has apparently also tried (and will maybe play with himself?), will be the forthcoming reboot of the Kobra, per the 5-letter names that W has been using fairly often as of late (other than the RF01, most recently the Clash and Shift). I would certainly welcome a name like "Cobra" or "Kobra" over something like "Taper", which sounds very 1970's.

Does feel like a pretty quick turnaround for new Blades but I guess it will be two years so not all that out of the ordinary.

Gonna echo what @Power Player said somewhere though... PLEASE bring back some crispness/feel, cause the mutedness of the V9 is probably the only reason I didn't commit to it. I still think it's a great racquet and something I could play close to my best tennis with, but something closer to the 2015 feel would be fantastic.

There have also been pics floating around of blacked out V10 Blades and V15 PS frames. So, it stands to reason that the release is coming soon.

I also have to agree with what a few others have said regarding bringing some feel back to the Blades. Something similar or even improving on the v5 feel and performance would be great. But with the way the Blades sell, I don't expect that to happen.

New Prostaffs are also sticks that I'm curious about. I know there were a few posts hinting at a Fall release this year but doesn't seem like there's been a whole lot of info.

Yeah Blade pro stocks are generally very close to V5 feel but with just a tiny bit more stiffness to provide a small bump in power. They could just dump these into the retail market and people would love them, but that would be too easy of course and prevent some new BS tech feature from being touted.

I've been playing the BP16 for a while now and I love it. I think it's superior to the v5 in pretty much every way and I would say it has better feel and response. I just got an H22 16x19 that I haven't had the chance to hit yet, but I'm curious to see how it performs in comparison.

I was referring to pro stock Blade rather than Blade Pro or H22. BP is a nice stick, way more direct and old school feel compared to the limp rubber noodle of the retail V9 Blade, but BP is an entirely different racquet of course. Radical Pro and BP have a lot more in common than regular Blade vs. BP.

The racquet used by Humbert, Hurkacz, Korda, Sonego, Jarry and over 20 more players in the ATP top 200. It's an actual Blade mold (not H22). The majority are the V2 K-Blade mold from what I understand, but made in varying nominal layups, i.e. V4, V5, etc. depending on what the player wants. But even for any nominal layup, the end result is still not exactly like any of the retail Blade versions. I've played with a bunch of pro stocks as well as all the retail versions except for V8.

H22/Blade Pro discussion really has nothing to do with Blade. Totally different mold and racquet from regular Blade, just happens to have the "Blade" name painted on.

There are only ten players in the top 200 using H22 - Martinez, Halys, Tien, Busta, etc.

Hoping to get to preview this soon, though late to the preview party from what I have seen. Was tempted to buy a v9, but heard some good thoughts on the new model. Just nothing concrete yet and I haven't even got hands on it.

With that though, I am back to start some demo's again and oddly find the Shift 99 on my radar.

Will see if I can fanagle the Blade here soon or have to wait and just keep liking the Shift.
 
So some info on the new blade per my local store owner.. he says wilson gave him a blacked out new blade 98. he says he loves how it played. said the differences are subtle but spin centric. so im guessing grommets have been retooled. but well see. he said he loved how it played. and hes pretty critical when it comes to new tech .. so all systems go here. he also said for him not to have seen the pj yet is not typical. and wilson is really keeping this one under serious wraps. .. tbc

I saw pros switching from blade pro to v9 retail so you are totally wrong to make a generalization like this

They have totally different molds, flex profile, dampening, feel, and some power difference. Blade Pro has as much in common with regular Blade as a Radical Pro has in common with regular Blade. They ARE totally different racquets. What do pros switching have to do with it? Some have gone from Blade to Pure Aero too. And which pros have switched from a retail BP to retail V9?

That wouldn't exactly be very Blade like. 65RA is about the max I would imagine it would go. Above that, you are venturing in to PS stifness range. They are meant to be different racquets for a reason.

Interesting. Not that it really matters to me because I hate the regular Blades. It's all Blade Pro for me.

I highly doubt that for several reasons.
  1. I'd be willing to bet there are very few pros playing with Blade Pros. They are using older versions of Blades with current Blade PJ or a completely different frame (like the Steam) with a Blade PJ.
  2. The others are most likely using some kind of H22 variant. This is nothing like the retail Blade and I doubt pros are giving up their tailor-made and customized frames for a stock Blade.

the b pro isnt a blade at all. just an h22. and its a sledgehammer. super tough on rhs. better for flat strokes. i would take the standard blade over the h22 all day every day and twice on sundays. although im a blade 100 user not the 98. love me my 100 has it all looking forward to the new iteration though. and the new line made for Khachanov or Tsitsipas.
