Wilson Blade v10 2026

This review differential might be the best example of taking the reviews with a grain of salt. V10 pretty much universally considered “better”, that coupled with more recent reviews all trending to higher ratings more forgiving ratings, one would expect the v10 should have been in the high 80s…

Exactly.

The 305S review in my mind is a great example of how you can only take the information as an aggregate. Not so much that they gave it a 9.0 because it's universally praised but when you go through the categories one by one you can see how many of them are inflated way too high. I owned one for a period and it's got decent power but 8.8 and 9.1 then for groundstrokes? It's more powerful than a Blade but I didn't feel it was anywhere near that powerful as those grades make it sound like the most poerful 98 on the market by far and it's nowhere near as powerful as say the 26 VC98 that they also gave an 8.8 for power. That they gave one of the stiffest feeling, most uncomfortable racquets you can buy an 8.7 for comfort simply shows that what works for them doesn't necessarily work for the masses.

The written review with scores has been uploaded and I'm very surprised at the low score (8.2 overall). The V9 got 8.8. Both in 98 16v19.

The tapered beam and stiffer hoop should have been straight improvements. It's just a score though and it's not the same reviewers which doesn't allow comparaison between versions.

It's always weird when they give RAVE reviews of Aeros, Tfights and even the last Blade, but a good interesting update gets punished this hard??

I haven’t hit with the v10 blade but I’m a long time blade user. It seems like most updates to the line have been very subjective for quite a while. And I totally agree to take these reviews with a grain of salt (Prince ATS 98 cough, cough)

In talking to a player that is much better than me who mained the v9 16x19 for a long time and recently picked up the v10 - he basically said the v10 has more power but less feel than the v9. So it’s little things like that that will ultimately come down to a players preference in which version they like more.

V10 pretty much universally considered “better”,
If this is really true (and I’m not saying it isn’t, I haven’t tried it) then this thread is a good 20 pages short of its counterparts V8 and V9 launch threads, and 60 pages short of the almighty V7 thread. V10 launched a mere 3 months ago, this thread should be beaming and it’s in racquets/2 most of the time. I think with blades everything has been invented at this point, if you want the most powerful iteration get V2, V3 or V6. If you want to destroy your arm get V4. For softness get V1 or V7, for the most raw connected feel get V5, for manageable SW get V8 and if you want a middle ground get V9. What does V10 add to the table other than an unnecessary mould change a la Radical? And this is coming from someone who loves the line and has played with blades all his life. If Wilson can’t convince (me) their public this is something worth trying rather than a simple refresh following two years having passed since the last release, then someone isn’t doing their job right.
Luckily there are still interesting offers on wilson’s line up (blade pro 100 - if you like 100s, Nishikori’s frame, the upcoming P98 a I really want to try the ultra 95 QZ because the ntour is a fantastic racquet) but this blade V10 really doesn’t add much in my opinion.

This is because interest in the blade has been declining over time my friend. Not to say that it isn’t a great racquet, just that it isn’t as universally popular as it was, and Yonex and the PA98 options have grown in popularity.

Had a quick demo with both in the box, along with a BP 100 16x20.

The Blade Pro 98 16x19 was the “best o’ the box” by a country mile. I had the best hitting sessions, played my best first sets and if I were 25, it would be in my bag right now.

I bought 2 regular Blade 98 V10 16x19 and I love it with RPM Blast 17 at 25/23kgs. I customized it with a bit more than 2g of lead on base grip with leather grip (and og) and it plays perfectly, I wouldn't add any more lead in the hoop for added stability/plow. Very good frame. A sort of easier and softer Pro Staff 97 which is what I've been looking for. Good all around racket that allows to me attack and defend which I really appreciate. Also excellent for both serving and returning. I'm generally not as connected to the ball as with the Pro Staff or RF01, but the tradeoff in comfort is very interesting on the long run.

I'm interested in trying it with Razor soft which is a round string for a bit more feel than RPM and its 8 sides (almost round though). Didn't like Alu Rough that much on this frame.

A ton has been written about regular Blade vs. Blade Pro if you search. V10 is no different. Completely different racquets, both just happen to have the name Blade painted on them.
Yes I know l, have them in v9 cosmetic actually both version with 18x20 pattern, looking to add 16x19 for easier serve in long matches.
Half of the reviews say normal v10 is slightly more powerful, slightly stiffer and more unforgiving than normal v9 which to me sounds 1:1 as to Blade pro charecteristics. Other half say no difference.
So if someone played them side by side at similar swingweight would like to know if v10 normal is worth considering ( mainly if it is more forgiving than pro and similar or less power) or should i just add 16x19 Blade Pro to the collection, as they are still sold under the nicer v9 paintjob.

Yes very surprised too .. the blade 98 V 10 It's much better than that review

V10 Blade is still a Blade. V10 Blade Pro is still BP. Still the same huge difference between the two.

I would add the Blade v10. It has enough power. Different power from the Blade Pro. The Blade Pro is just on a different level. You cannot really compare them without doing injustice to either. If you can play with the heavy Blade Pro-it is better by far.

If you can measure the swingweight then the V10 will be fine, it feels slightly stiffer than the V9 imo, but my V10 18/20 felt anaemic to my V9 18/20 which I'm putting down to a much lower swingweight. Sadly couldn't measure both, but had noticeably less plow through.

Can you elaborate more? Do you mean higher SW based power for BP vs more maneuverable higher racket speed for v10?
Mass based power from the BP. It will not come around as easily as the standard Blade. On the other hand, if you are a Blade user and you have been searching this board and the internet for an increase in easy power, depth and smashing serves-you are in for a treat.

If you weight up regular Blade like BP, BP will still have more power because it has a thicker stiffer frame. Again the only reason to direct compare the two totally different frames is if you just want something with a Blade paint job.

Ok, yes this the goal. I play in the 330-340 SW range, so BP is not a problem.

Yes, ok good to know not very much changed with v10, so it will be BP.

This the rise of the modern power 98s means the decline of the control frames in terms of popularity.
Yep. Hit with the V10 today and I really like the feel and control. But it falls well short of the PA98 ('23) power. That said, if my PA98s ever start to destroy my arm out of the blue, I'd happily gear down to the Blade V10.

Hey Guys, is here anyone who knows if the 98 16x19 is coming as an "L"-version to europe or in general?
v8 and v9 did, I think some version was skipped.

Thanks!

I tried my hitting partners blade 98 18x20 v8 and really liked it despite being a handle being a size too small.

I really liked the stability of it, it really helped with my return of serve and against heavy shots.

I think I’m going to pull the trigger on a blade 98 v10 16x19. I’m coming from a 2023 vcore 98 which I string with hyper G at 52/50. Is hyper g good in this frame? What tension should I start at?

Thanks!

Ive played with the V10 16x19 extensively. It's a Goldilocks racquet.

The one thing I struggle with is a consistent DTL shot. So the 18x20 is arriving tomorrow as it's more suited to my swing trajectory.

Side note: I was at Wimbledon yesterday, and it was noticeable how many players had the emerald stick.

A while back I said this racket is just a blade. Same as Wilson made them years ago. I have to take back those words.
I’ve been playing with the 16x19 for a while now and it might be the best racket Wilson ever made. Heck it might be the best racket I ever played with.
It’s so buttery and stable. Feel is amazing and power is easily generated. The stability is what really stands out. I don’t know how they did it considering it’s pretty light.

I’ve been maining the V10 16x19 for over two months now. I never thought I would say that about a Blade but this V10 is that good. It’s the Speed MP of 98’s. Does everything well and isn’t overboard in any specific area. Now I’m not sure how much better the P98 can be.

@Jono123 @gebruikershaes @heavyD what strings have you guys been using on this racket and what tension? also original synthetic grip or leather grip? any lead?

for some reason i didn't like alu rough much, rpm blast was very good until i dropped the tension from 55/52lbs to 48/46 because i find it a low powered and stiff, demanding setup

no weight needed, i tried 4g at 3 and 9 and it was awfully demanding and slower, this racket is meant to be swung fast!

looking for more power and forgiveness, i'd love any recommendation because i love this stick too! (98 v10 16x19) i'm even ready to go full multi or hybrid

What's your swingweight and twistweight?

I bought mine used and it came strung with the holy grail. Alu power in mains and gut in crosses 24/25kg. That is the setup I based my initial opinion on. I didn’t like it and found the string bed too unpredictable.
Now I play with my trusty Lynx tour @25kg. No lead and standard grip. Very predictable and gives me confidence to swing out. One thing to note is, I have a long swing and have no trouble creating pace even with underpowered rackets. Also my previous frame is an ultra tour 18x20. The UT gives you absolutely nothing. Not for free at least. You have to work for it. So me liking the blade that much could be just due to the fact that I played with the UT for so long.. the blade is much easier to play with.

what color and gauge of lynx tour?
the holy grail should be gut in the mains and alu rough in the crosses :p

I’m personally more impressed with the v10 16/19 than the P98. P98 perhaps spins the ball better. V10 does just about all else better. Power very similar. Maybe a touch more with the p98 but not by much.

v10 blade I switched to from pro staff classic. More power, more spin/launch and solid soft feel (no where near PSC in this category). Then I randomly demoed the blade pro v10 and it will be an instant switch for me.

Compared to the regular version, it has a much more connected feel (less soft) while still giving me the pop I was looking for coming from pro staff. The regular is more maneuverable but the pro is way more stable. Hope this helps

I recommend a hybrid at low tension, circa 50. Go with a soft poly like Solinco Mach 10 and a nice multi. I like X-one Biphase.

Nice. I wanted to try the classic 4G combo with Blade. Pros go with Gut/4G. I'd try X1/4G or Velocity MLT/4G cause it's way cheaper.

The Blade is hurting my wrist and arm... It's not as stable and forgiving as I thought it would be. I might just not have the level for it.

Switching during match to the Speed MP 2022, I was much more consistent, the frame helped tremendously against heavy balls. I will consider switching away from the Blade if the Speed is just the better racket for my level...

My favorite setup so far has been VS Touch 1.25 mains and 4G 1.25 crosses. For me the gut adds a little more pop to what's not an overly powerful frame and for me it just seems to perform more consistent compared to a full bed of poly.

Very interesting thanks. The Blade has proven to be a little stiff and unforgiving for me. RPM Blast is definitely not a good choice for this frame. I'll try a multi mains and 4g crosses.

It was beautiful to see Dimitrov playing perfectly tonight on grass with this setup. Tsitsipas also settled for it, as did Serena I believe. Might play good.

No weight added btw? Original syn grip?

If you like Blades go for it, it's an excellent iteration. If you generally prefer thicker and more forgiving frames maybe wait for the Python.
Python is not more forgiving than the B100P imo. I’ve tried both the P98 and P100 prototypes. I spent the last few weeks playing with the Blade 100 Pro and the biggest difference I can articulate is that the Steam mold rewards you when going for more penetrating balls(makes sense why it’s so popular in WTA) , whereas the P98/100 gives you more when you go for heavier topspin shots, especially the P100. The P98 especially had small sweetspot though at the lighter stock prototype specs and is more demanding stick overall than many would assume

Multi/poly isn’t quite the similar as gut/poly in performance from what I understand. But I haven’t done a side by side. Modern gut should be way more resilient and less sticky

Agree 100%, and I’ve play extensively with all three.
