Wilson Defyer 100 V1

Has anyone tried restring sync with defyer 100? Restring claims they are perfect match.

thanks for explaining how search engine works, i am sure not many of us knew how it worked before your explanation.

But it was a geniune question.

No - it actually feels less dampened for me because more vibrations come through the frame. I am not saying it protects the arm or anything like that, but I can feel more vibration from the strings, which I like.
I've tried it without the dampener and it's made a big difference. I'm surprised. I suspect as the tension drops the feel also increased as I'm coming from a Gravity and used to a longer dwell time

Tenncom had it as his favourite string he tried in the Python 98. If you’re looking to add a bit more control maybe because you find yourself between the 98 and 100 then I think it is worth a go. I’m waiting to try it but my local shop is out of stock in 1.25mm.

Not my experience. I have been testing the Blade 100 Pro right before the Defyer. Blade 100 Pro due to the extension, higher stiffness, and more open pattern, has noticeably more power for me. Agree on the Defyer being much more maneuverable. But if I take a full crack at the ball and wasn’t late with the Blade 100 Pro(the length makes it more difficult to time despite my specs of both being very similar), my balls does a lot more damage it seems.

Blade 100 Pro also suite hitting through the court much more. It’s not hard to get spin and height but heavy spin shots sit up more than they are heavy with some more spin oriented frames, while hitting through the court the frame unleashed its full potential for me.

Serving has higher ceiling with the Blade 100 Pro, but Defyer might be easier to time.

2HBH I really like the Blade 100 Pro, the added length more than I thought on high balls and I just connect better on that wing generally.

Forehand is significantly easier to time on the Defyer 100, about the same 322-324 SW for both. Perhaps my Blade 100 Pro is a bit overspec stock SW wise than average tho.
BP 100 is amazing for attacking on the rise, change of directions with precision. It's terrible for hitting high heavy from way behind the baseline.

I have 2-3g of lead under the grip alongside length of handle on both to bring down the balance. As both stock was under target in static weight and slightly over in SW. Otherwise no weight in the hoop for this comparison I’m describing.
RF leather grip on mine with 3-4 grams of putty under the cap. Sync in the cross adds pocketing feel. Chefs kiss. 328g 322 SW 32.5 balance. Wicked setup

Saw this yesterday and decided to add weight to the 100 and see how it feels in a similar spec to how I have the 98.

Swung through the air nicely, huge amount of punch but the flex felt really weird with the extra weight being at 12 and buttcap. The 98 has a much more consistent feel through the frame where the 100 felt awkwardly soft in the middle and lower part of the hoop. A lot of this could have been the ****ty balls this group of players use, so I'll have to bring it out next week with new balls and normal hitting partners for a proper impression. Serving was insane though, enough that I would rather get dialed in on the 100 than the 98.

Could this be the next racket that enables Wilson an ATP singles Grand Slam Championship and regain the glory of the past? If so, what year will that GSC be realized?
Site wide bet on who on the ATP will win the first major with a Defyler.

Did anyone try to post an ad under classifieds for the 100? Mine keep getting rejected, the 98 got through just fine so the format is ok. Maybe because its still in presale in us?

I'm sure they will let you post after the 21st. I am trying the 98 and 100. I also prefer the 98 as I can swing faster at contact.

I will most likely post in the FS or trade for a 98. But I am waiting until the 21st to do so. I'm sure after that day your post will be approved.

Im waiting to see if we get a us open colorway. Either way will demo but more likely to buy if theres a second color.

Just had my first hit with the D100. I expected it to be too powerful, launchy, not enough control and clunky. I didn't expect to like it. I was wrong.

Certainly more powerful than my BP100 and TF305s, but no issues keeping the ball in even though I was taking big cuts at it. It did give me a bit more topspin, but not crazy levels that would transform my otherwise flatter forehands.

The control was there when I hit the ball right, I wasn't spraying it all over the place.

But the 2 things that surprised me the most were the huge sweet spot and that it didn't feel clunky for a thick-beamed 100.

I don't like it enough to consider switching to it, but enjoy it enough to keep it around as a "bad day racket".

Mine came in pretty close to spec.
Unstrung - 302g static, 31.5cm balance and 291 SW.
Stung 4G Soft 125, OG, dampener and head protection tape - 329g static, 32.4cm balance and 332 SW.

BP100 better you think?

You probably meant sw 323 strung?

332 SW strung. As @brooksgbanks pointed out, the higher SW is down to the head protection tape applied starting from the first cross grommet.

I wouldn't say the BP100 is a better racket, but it suits me more than the D100.

I'd only pick the D100 over the BP100 when I'm having a bad day.

I've hit with the D98 multiple times with many differetn string setups and I'm pretty underwhelmed to be honest, it somehow feels stiff but overly muted on contact at the same time. Launch angle was way high (though I'm used to Ezone 98 so take it with a grain of salt). Spin was pretty good, just not too happy with the feel.

Able to hit a 100 with Mach 10. I'm a 5.0 mid 50s player, play with a Blade 100 V9 right now(weighted up at 9 and 3). This stick gave me much better spin and better depth on my backhand. Really solid on volleys, maybe add a little stability weight against bigger hitters or doubles play. I like it better than a Pure Aero. Has more control. I may switch from my Blade 100 V9, but right now I hit that with a gut main/4G, Sync, or M8 cross and the power/feel balance is perfection for me in my V9. I may buy 1 D100 and play around with the string set-up. I use gut in the main because it never gives me any arm issue & tension maintenance, so may try it with 4G with a little more tension, maybe 56/52 compared to my normal 54/50. If anyone has tried the Defyer 100 in a hybrid or with gut, let us know how it went! The little I hit with it, it really seems it's trying to be that Pure Aero type stick but leaning toward Blade characteristics. Very solid.

I have Gut and Ghostwire in my D98 and I really like it. D100 doesn't remind me of my Pure Aero at all really, Pure Aero makes my game more one dimensional, has one trick hitting a spin heavy hard to handle shot, when I played with the D100 I didn't get the heavy hard to handle spin off my shot like the Pure Aero but my game had much better serve and better shot placement and better variety of shots, suited more to my all court play style. To me the Defyer plays more like a control frame on steroids, than a pure spin racket.

Am I the only one to think the 100 should have been as soft as the 98?
There are plenty of muted ra66-68 offerings but none around ra60-64 in 100'
I recall the soft drive with RDC of 63 strung and chinese cloned PDs around
ra58 that felt amazing going for broke, touch shots or extra pop if need be.
I believe the extra inches 16x20 and ra64 for extra feel is better for retail.

Have you tried them both? Imo the 100 feels softer than the 98, especially in the hoop.
Also the Speeds, Gravity, Boom, Extreme MPL, hell most of Head's lineup is in that 100 inch low 60s range. There are a lot.

Thats what i love about the racket. It may seem humble, but it is jack of all trades when it comes to different shots. It does not enforce/penalize any shot style, but rewards modern fast swing spin shots.

I am looking for a string that aligns this charactheristic of the racket. Confidential or restring sync are on my list to try. Any suggestions on strings end?

Side by side but in my biased opinion the 100 feels more muted than the 98, using 4g at 50-54lbs helped but missed that 6.1, H22, RF97 willy feeling.
Earlier WIlly/Heads were cleaner feeling and trusted units for ball contact now this trait is getting more muddled with Head using a bandaid of boron to add crispness.

I have many NOS Heads with innegra that feel way superior to latest Head offerings and a Boom-like squared top hoop of a Prestige would be in my hand now.

D100 does not need to be like an Ezone or some dampened PD when it could be made softer using traditional layups even earlier Kobra for some felt better.

Would you think Jack Draper could play better with it than he is failing to do with the what appears to be the D98?
ATM jack is lacking the big pop he used to have but his footwork loos lazy as well sadly.

Can someone compare D100 to Puredrive 100 standard(current)?
This is a pretty interesting review on reddit of defyer vs ezone vs pure drive 100s.

Basically says the defyer was the most sluggish of the three with the highest swing weight and produced the least spin of the three and the least power of the three.

I think the ezone and pure drive 100s are often considered too launchy because of how much free power you get so the Defyer 100 could be a more controlled option of the power ranges by the sounds of it.

Have hit with both. I would say the D100 has more control overall. The PD is great for power and defense. The D100 has a better slice and flatter ball when attacking. At least these were my observations from hitting.

PD has easy power. You will need to use more effort to get the same power with the D100.

Curious if your take is similar to the reddit review? Did you find it clunkier/less maneuverable than the pure drive? I feel like all the reviews say the opposite that it flies through the air. Maybe this guy got an overspec one in terms of swing weight.

I personally didn't find it sluggish in comparison to the PD.

Compared to the D98 it feels sluggish. The D98 you can get a lot more speed but I think it is more to do with the head size than SW because my D98 has lead tape on it.

Thanks fellas!! I’m sticking to my puredrive! But will demo the D100 just to check. The current ‘25 puredrive is too good for my game especially the new spectra color. I use 18g poly strings at 58/56lbs for control. No arm issues in almost a decade using pure drive.

Hi guys, I see this topic is quite active with a lot of first person reviews, so would really appreciate if you could make a comment or suggestion regarding my personal case. Long story short, I'm mostly a clay court baseliner with a heavy topspin forehand and a two-handed backhand, been playing with a blade v8 100l for a while now, paired with Lynx tour champagne 1.25 (usually at 23x23 kg) and 2 grams of lead tape added at 3 and 9 o'clock each. Higher amateur level (played as a kid). Forehands are amazing, with pretty good topspin (I generate the power and spin myself mostly, with a lot of acceleration/whip from the wrist), however backhand under pressure is often hard because when the swing is not full the ball drops short. When I have the time to make the full swing, the backhand is fine. At first I played with v8 98 16x19, but when late I struggled with the short/whippy forehand and topspin wasn't as good the 100L one (though the backhand was quite good with it).

Demoed the PA 100 last year, even though the forehands were great, the backhand was awful and even worse than with my current blade 100L, also got some forearm issues with it, so it's a no go for me since then.

I also demoed an Ezone 100L. It felt too light and "empty" for my taste. Great maneuverability, but I couldn't get the same solid contact as with the Blade, even though I added the same amount of lead tape in the head.

Soo having in mind that, how do you think the D100 will perform in this case? I'm not looking for more power, I'm looking for a little more stability and plow-through on the backhand without losing the whippy forehand that I currently have. Obviously it's always better to demo it, I know, however there are still no demo rackets around me and will have to wait. So in the meantime would appreciate some thoughts on that from people that have actually played with it. Thanks!

PS. Blade 100 is also on my shortlist, but I'm curious whether the Defyer keeps more of the easy whip while offering better stability, since for some reason a Blade always finds a way to punish you...

OK good. I gotta say that I cheated with my D100 and added 4g total at 3/9 from the and that increase in twistweight really helped my 2HBH. In stock form it might have a little lack of power with the 2H'er.
Hmm, how did this affect the forehand tho? And the general whippines of the racket, didn't it become more sluggish? I mean obviously it really depends on the technique, whether you go through the ball more with a flatter hit or accelerate with the wrist and whip it more. But was just wondering if the stock D100 will, in my case, be a better option than the customised Blade 100L
