can anyone tell me if the hyper pro staff 6.1 95 is a good racquet? i want to hear what everyone thinks about this racquet

and does any one know what to do or how to transition from an oversize (110) racquet to a midplus (95)??

I didn't use the HPS 6.1, but I know its a very very good racket. I will be very weird if any guy tell you it's not...

But... Its all abour personal tastes, you know... The fact that the HPS 6.1 is an amazing racket does not mean that you gonna like it...

About the change of head size; The 95 will be a little more exigent with the sweetspot and generally with the power, but this last thing depends on the type of racket... In general its: 110 = power, easy to use, forgiving sweetspot, better volleys
and 95 = control, effects, maneuverability...

it's very good in terms of play, versatile, head light.

however, it's harsh on the arm. my own experience (can play with 6.0 85 with no probs, 2hrs with HPS 6.1 95 will kill my elbow, at the same high (68lbs) tension). others (including my stringer) have provided similar reports on the arm problems with Wilson hyper-carbon rackets.

if you decide for it, use low tensions (say 55lbs) to protect your arm. but then not sure if you can control it (I can't, at those tensions).

i used the hyper hammer 5.2 for a while(has hyper carbon)with no problems.does that mean i shoudl be fine with this one.

Use a HPS 6.1 Tour w/95" head strung at 56# and have no elbow problems. Tour weighs 12.9 oz w/18x20 string pattern.

Good stick. Great to serve with and good on the baseline. weak at the net. Where are you getting new ones?

make sure you know the type you want and that you're getting from the seller. There are like 3 versions, oversized, mid stretch , and mid 95.

for transition, i disagree that volleys are better with larger head sizes, and that unless you can cope with misshits for a while, a midsize will be frustrating. sometimes, i wish i had an OS cuz of constant misshits.

yeah the guy is selling a midplus so that is 95 sq inches. do any of you have problems with mis-hits with a 95 sq in racquet

This is my racquet of choice. I absolutely love it. It gives very good pace and spin on both serves and groundies. I think it volleys pretty good as well as I'm a baseliner who comes in to finish the point off at net. I think it works best if you have a power, hit pretty hard and with a lot of spin type of game. If you are looking for a racquet where you can play a lot of touch shots and just more of a finesse type of game, the HPS 6.1 may not be your cup of tea. I haven't had any problems with mis-hits with the 95 square inches. I think 95 square inches is the perfect head size. It's not too small, but it is not a big, clunky oversize either.

My son plays with the HPS 6.1 95 and loves them. I hit with them every once in a while and love them as well. I usually use a Surge. Neither of us have had any arm complaints and it seems to do everything well.

Friend uses a 6.1 Classic, broke a string and used my HPS 6.1 and noticed his TE problem was gone the next day.

The sweet spot is a bit lower on prostaff rackets, so if your technique allows for such an adjustment then I'd see no problem with mishits.

I used to use a HPS but switched to a Slaz Pro x-1. The hps is a great racket but it's pretty demanding. It's heavy and has a high swingweight. But then again if you mechanics are good then you should love this racket.

I suggest working out your tennis dominant arm, cause it's pretty demanding because it weighs at a whooping 12+ oz.

;) does the midplus give a lot of spin or no spin at all. and how is the power level on the hps 6.1 95??? and was this federers old racquet?

Whopping? My HPS 6.1 weighs 12.9 oz and it needs a bit of lead tape at 10&2 o'clock to satisfy my PC needs for a more even balance. But I only play 5x/week

hps 6.1 MP is my main racket, so i have to like it.

the midplus gives plenty of spin. i am a western gripper and with the 16x18 pattern and 17g strings can produce a very heavy and kicking ball.

power is about the same as the 6.1 classic. i raised the sweetspot with lead tape at 3/9 and 12, so it has a good deal of pop now as well

on the wilson pro overgrip 30pack, it has a picture of JHH and Fed from several years ago. Federer is using the hps 6.1 (maybe 6.0), or at least the paintjob, n the racket looks like a 95" to me. looks like he wasn't good enough then to get his custom mold lol but it was probably a 6.1 classic pj.

I recently changed from a Wilson HH 4 (oversize) to a PS Torch (midplus). Totally different concept, I know. I cannot comment on the exact racquet. But I can say that in terms of transition, I was amazed at how much more control I now have. Sure, the power loss is also significant but I prefer beautiful (and precise) tennis to a slug match. And if you want, you can produce the power yourself or lower the tension (have not tried that yet).

I think it is best to try it out before you buy it (the smaller size that is) and change when you are ready for it. That's a better route in my opinion than struggling with mishits because of a smaller sweetspot.

Ahh the HPS 6.1 95...included the Wilson technology called the movable sweetspot! Incredible technology... you hit it in one spot and it feels great, you hit it again in that spot and where'd the sweetspot go? Oh you hit it in a third spot--there it is again! Of course I'm joking but this stick seemed rather random to me. Couldn't switch to it after using the Pro Staff Classic.

what happens if some i put some lead tape at 12 o'clock. what will it do??? does it raise the sweet spot or does it do any thing else?

some recent article pointed this is now DelPos chosen frame but with fst burn pj
which is ridiculous as fst burn is 1 of the stiffest sticks around for his wrists probs

Great racquet but be careful of weight QC issues.
I own three from different years and one is very heavy, more than k 90.

Wilson sucks in QC
