Apart from the paintjob, what were the differences between the Jack Kramer Autograph and the Jack Kramer Pro Staff ?

Autograph was a more flexible racquet better for placement, and felt a tiny bit lighter. (I believe that the neck was a fraction narrower, also.)

The JK Pro Staff was slightly stiffer, and could generate a bit more pace IMO. It seems like the the neck was a tiny bit broader and maybe thicker, and maybe even had more of that white plastic stiffening the throat.

I owned a JK PS for a number of years.

You know, I always thought the ProStaff was a little stiffer than the Auto. But, according to Bill Scanlon who played with virtually every variant of the wood frame, there was no difference other than the cosmetics. He said that the Jack Kramer, Jack Kramer ProStaff, Chris Evert Auto, and the Stan Smith Auto were the same frame. The only difference was the Evert was a touch lighter.

And colder.
The Evert was definitely colder...

I used the kramer auto. from 1965 to 1982. I never played the pro staff kramer, but knew guys who swore by it and preffered it above all the wood rackets wilson made. what makes the wilson rackets play stiff or with flex is the "flake" a short flake makes it stiffer and a longer one flex more. two examples are the smith auto. (stiff) and the kramer auto. (flex more). I always thought the best kramer was the kramer auto. "firm-flex". kinda looked like a smith auto. but not the tradtional colors "red & white" they were black & white.

out of curiosity: can you tell me who among the players played with the jk pro staff? i know mcenroe did it until ´80.
i thought the jk autograph was more popular but i may be wrong.

I felt that the Stan Smith was a little stiffer than the JK as well. Two of the popular racquets at the time were the JK and the Maxply. I preferred the Maxply for net play (doubles especially) and the JK for baseline play. The JK was a more durable racquet too.
