Wilson N6.1 95: 16x18 or 18x20?

I tried a friend's Nsix one 95 (16x18 pattern) and really liked it. The racquet improved the speed/power on my serve and felt great on the rest of my game as well. I pretty much decided that is going to be my new racquet until I played a match with the Head Flexpoint Radical and enjoyed the control that it offered. I now am wondering if I go for the additional control of the 18x20 version of the NsixOne-95 without trying one, or just stick with the 16x18 that won me over in the first place. From what I've heard, the NsixOne tour90 is a completely different beast than the NsixOne95--is this true of the 16x18 vs the 18x20 versions of the NsixOne-95?

as much as the curiousity of trying a tighter string pattern may appeal to you, stick with the 16x18. That is what won you over, not the 18x20. You are going to regret buying something that you think is better instead of buying that IS better for you .

Edit: Missed the part about the Radical. Demo the 18x20, it does offer more control, but you might lose something in the process. No two racquets are alike.

n6.1 95 in general has a singular problem: the ball tend to pop-off the strings before you can brush it at best.

But maybe it's just the latest version (nCode) having this problem.

n6.1 Tour 90 is no way related, just like it would be another brand racquet.

Instead, I'd suggest you to be more curious about the nBlade MP, that *seems* the right answer by Wilson to a modern racquet/game request.

The N6.1 95 is the most powerful of the 18x20 racquets I've played with, and won't be a bad choice for many people.

Would it be fair to say that by altering string type and tension that either of these racquets could be setup to play like the other? If I bought the 16x18 version and strung it with characteristics favoring control, would I achieve something close to the 18x20?

The 16x18 ver. has too much irregular string spacing (just the opposite of Bab Pure Control), play some power players and you'll realize that's a pain to control!

I have the nsix-one 95 (16 x18) and love it. The (18 x 20) version is cheaper to buy (check the big auction site), not sure how long Wilson will continue it, but the (18 x 20) version plays much stiffer to me.

I would go with the 16 x 18 and use 16 gauge string. Dense patterns are harder to string, and make the frames stiffer.

If you like the power on the racquet then get 16x18. But if it had to much pop get 18x20

WIlson ncode tour 90 is a much more challenging than the 95! pretty small sweetspot!

The 16x18 is more powerful; the 18x20 gives more control. I've used 3 18x20s for over a year and like them for my game. If you like the Head try the 18x20.

I don't know what racquet you're coming from but I encourage you to closely compare the size and shape of the racquets you are used to and the Wilsons before buying any. If you are used to Heads (like me) you'll notice the shape of the grip is different, and that for example 4 1/2" grip Wilsons seem bigger than Heads. If you care about your arm - make sure you get something you're comfortable with. I initially missed this, got Wilson 4 1/2" size grips and got TE from this.

I liked the racquets enough to get the grips customized on shape and size to match the Heads and am pretty happy now. Note - easier to customize grips by adding size instead of shrinking tho.
