Wilson New Project Racquet New Line

Sounds like Wilson want a product line that will attract fans of Head?
Don't think Head is Wilson's target at the moment as Head and their graphene crap hasn't been a hit at all. Wilson tried to target Babolat users with the Burn series and failed miserably. I think they're giving it another go with Clash.

Wilson has probably given up on chasing Babolat-users by now.

Going by TIA stats Wilsons Ultra models are best sellers right after Pure Drive and Pure Aero. IMHO that's a good result considering the discrepancy in advertising these particular models.

Kind of bad timing for Wilson. I’m afraid these are not gonna be able to topple the 360 Speeds and probably the 360 Extremes (depending on the Extreme’s string spacing) from Head.

The best thing that Wilson, Head and Babolat do is market well and it's like that with many products we buy. For those who can look beyond this can find great value with products from Pro Kennex, especially the Q series.

You'll just have to try it out for yourself to see.

The clash is even softer than the Speeds. The lowest RA I have on a 360 Speed strung is 61. The Clashes (two versions) I have are lower by 5+ points strung.
The stiffer the racquet, the more power. Does this mean the Clash is very low in power?

Yes, I did find it to be fairly low powered. However, the dwell time is significant (and I'm not usually one to talk about dwell time), so the launch angle is higher which makes up for a little less power and also increases spin.
Interesting, considering Wilson has been touting this as power + control.

Anecdotal but Wilson seem to be doing ok. I see lots of RF97/97's and a few Blades & Ultras. Trouble for them is when Rog retires.

Obviously PD/PA's are as popular as ever. Head must be having a nightmare, I see occasional Speed's but nothing else new at all.

I don't see Rafa going much past Rogers retirement.

I think Zverev and Medvedev have some long careers ahead of them and I could see both switching, especially is the money is right.

Jack Kramer Autograph was still selling in huge volumes decades after Kramer retired.

A Federer autograph model has potential to sell well for many years to come assuming Federer and Wilson want to continue their partnership. (Especially if Novak and Rafa cannot equal or exceed Roger's Majors Title count!)

I did find very good control, even with the 16x19 string pattern. Spin was great as well.

Unfortunately this racquet appears that it will be sticking to the same pain scheme as all the other Wilson's right now. The paint job most people have seen has just been to hide what it really looks like. Personally, I like that paint job better than the paint job on the ones that we received. I'm sick of Wilson's bland paint jobs. They were alright for a little while, I was never a huge fan, but now they need to move on, and this new racquet would be perfect to introduce the new paint job to help label it as something truly new and not just rebranded.
Looks like something I would doodle on white paper during class in school.

I spoke to a Wilson rep who said the Clash racquets (not sure if just one model or all) supposedly has a lower stiffness rating than the Jack Kramer Autograph. More flexible than wood would mean a stiffness rating in the 40's. Wow.

I doubt it's more flexy, but all things seem to indicate a flexy offering on the way. I am intrigued.

Think he was talking about the Pro Staff Jack Kramer - 85 sq inch 80% graphite 20% fiberglass

I am doing some stringing for the Wilson rep today. Raining here for the next few days but he promised that we could go out and play test the frame. If allowed I'll post specs from my RDC. I won't be able to post any pics though. Don't want to lose my security clearance!
