Hi,

I have question about Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 racquet.
I found this racquet to buy but there is one ( I thing )
difference in comparizon with racquet I can see
on TW or other sites.

On the frame, by throat, there is written "Pro Staff"
and on the other "Pro Staff. 6.0"

This one I want to buy:

I don't know if there are more differences,
I've olny seen this racquet on this picture.

Is this the good, original Pro Staff 6.0 racquet ???
Help me , please.

Best Regards,
Michal

the one you are going to buy is the late 90's early 00's version of the pro staff. its still made in china. you can tell by the inside of the throat it says manufactured by chiao ta. taiwan models and st. vincents don't have this kind of writing inside the throad. The 2 links to your original post are definitely not st. vincents. those are both made in china i can attest to that.

Then, evidently it looks like St.Vincent version.

St. Vincent was played by Sampras, was stiffer, as far as I know.

Do your homework and do those searches you'll find many opinions. If you post pictures, those must be much more closer, including primer, holes/grommets and cap, in order for someone to decide.

Earlier versions only have "PRO STAFF", later versions have "Pro Staff 6.0". Same racquet. The ones without the "6.0" could be made in Chicago, St. Vincent or Taiwan. The ones with the "6.0" are most likely made in China.

The one without 6.0 can also have been made in China. The St. Vincent had the words "PRO STAFF" written in all CAPS. This one has "Pro Staff" with only the first letter in each word in CAPS. I have one that looks exactly like it, made in china. Bought in the mid 90s.

That being said, it plays a bit differently than the TW versions. But both are made in China.

From what I heard from others, just stiffer.
(never had it in my hands, just China)
If that's "better," it depends on the user.

It's certainly more in demand by some, thus more expensive.

Actually, the one that he's going to buy has "PRO STAFF" written in all caps. I have one that looks just like that and it's made in Taiwan.

Breakpoint......the one he is going to buy
"(This one I want to buy: http://www.grzybczyk.pl/prostaff.jpg)" has Pro Staff in both upper case and lower case if you look closely. This is a china.

How can I tell if my racket is the Chicago version? Looks like the code on the butt cap ends in "I" or maybe it's a "L", Pro Staff written in caps, don't see any red primer, does have two stickers on the throat of the racket, one with string at 65 to 70 lbs, and the other sticker giving the weight of the racket, 11.6 to 12.3 unstrung, and balance of 1.0 to 1.5 inches headlight. Also no bumper guard. Thanks.

the really old batches of pro staffs has higher tension recommendations "65-70lbs." and did not have any inside writing on the throat except the grip/tension sticker and the other sticker you are referring to. no bumper guard is a givaway that is 80-90% a chicago. the butt cap code, which ended in "I" reveals its a chicago, maybe referreing to Illinois..i have a chicago and the butt cap code is GOI, w/o bumperguard, more heavier than a newer st. vincents and overall harder to swing. hope this helps.

Young Pete,
Actually, if you re-read post #3, that's not the exact one that's he's going to buy. The one he wants to buy is this one:

mine come with a littel sticker on the butt that says "china". i wonder where they're from?

Hey, all that means is that the sticker itself was made in China. Who knows where the racquet was made? ;)
