That one was Hyper-G 1.25 @ 57lbs in the 18x20. My friend plays a stock Classic 16x18 with Hyper-G 1.20 @ 58lbs and I wasn't a fan, I think the only reason that tension felt good was all the weight muting the impact.
lol, most my service points are not returned in play or if I'm not in the groove they are brutal extended multi-deuce games. I have no doubt that would go very differently if I the returners I played were more accustomed to pace or spin on serve.

Its interesting that the PS 6.1 classic is such a great hitting racket with more of a modern air shell type frame (like babolats) compared to the smaller denser ps85. Did you all know that Wilson actually made a PS 6.1 Classic with an 85 head but Edberg still preferred and decided to keep playing the ps85 paintjob ? Below is what Im talking about:

I've got one of those. Probably didn't give it it's fair share. Although I think I stopped playing for about a year and when I started playing again I was playing with one of the shiny new black IG Prestige MP's. Nice spin potential, even with x-one. Probably not enough power for me though.
I think if I wanted to I could probably lead one up and still have it be in my preferred spec range. I did have TW put a leather grip on mine, but I didn't add any other weight when I was playing it.

Hi I'm new to the 6.1 95 and I am interested in purchasing one. Could anyone tell me the difference between these 6.1's apart from the paint job? And why the classic is 340g unstrung whereas the new one is less?

The weight difference is caused by the grips that are fitted. The leather grip weighs more. The 25th classic is a rerelease of the original 6.1 95 18x20, and the white one is a slightly updated version of the parallel drilling model.

great...great great racquet, I got back into tennis 4 yrs ago after 25 yrs away, and while I didn't know anything about the gear, I tested everything and landed on the six one blx amplifeel/parallel drilling version in 16x18, and last year added 2 ncode 16x18's. (love both)
this racquet demands a lot of you, but it also rewards you if you have good footwork and positioning and of course mechanics/rhs.
I really hope, like all of you, that wilson wake's up and put's this great racquet back in action, just too good to put on the shelf.....and I don't believe there is anything like this currently available. (at least in my area to try out , Toronto Canada)
I have a question for all you 18x20 users, I have long been debating whether I should give the 18x20 a shot for adding precision: my question: is it alot different than 16x18 ? I love the 16x18 heft,spin and pop, but do admit its harder to paint the lines with this one....still love it to death, but am curious if the 18x20 is close enough with the added precision. ?
(I put leather grips (any brand: liking head @ moment) and gamma supreme og's, with a bit of lead @ 12, 3 and 9: 13.2 oz and around 10-12 pts headlight)

I don't know if it's my current string setup or what. But I feel like I am constantly having to tweak my stroke mechanic to give a little more spin when I play with the nCode

has this racket been discontinued?
I normally play with the nblade 98 18,20. I sent it for restringing, and I played with my PSC 16,18 in the mean time.
My blade came back and I couldn't play with it. It's way too light and flimsy feeling.
I'm now thinking about adding lead to make it weigh the same as my PSC.
What do you guys think?

The playtester Troy was doing something along that line last I heard. stiffness and string spacing would be the unchangable things. The trick will be lead at 3&9 for enough stability, adding weight to the handle to bring the balance down, and finding something that works for you in all of that. Even if you are able to perfectly match the swingweight, balance, static weight, twistweight it may not be the ideal setup for that frame since the size and string spacing will not be the same.

I think I see the bulbous 'spin' butt cap which is on the blade, not the traditional Pro Staff flat. Say it ain't so!

Has anyone made a switch to the RF97A (either version) from a PS 6.1 95 (preferably the 16x18 string pattern) or just compared the two? I have been using a couple of HPS 6.1s for 10+ years and recently picked up the black RF97A. The RF97A feels MUCH heavier for some reason even though it comes in only about 0.2-0.3oz heavier. I know it is a little less headlight and the thicker beam makes it less aerodynamic, but I didn't anticipate how 'clublike' the RF97A is! My 6.1 feels comparatively svelte and blade like! I thought my 6.1 definitely had better touch and less power than the RF97A. In recent years (I'm now 38) I've found it harder to blast winners from the baseline the way I did in my early 30s but in my first hitting session with the RF97A I hit a couple of clean winners into the corner without even trying too hard. I feel the RF97A sort of forces you to improve your timing and use the weight of the racquet to generate racquet speed bc it's much harder to muscle the ball. Long story short, despite its power advantage I can't say I like the RF97A that much, due to its heft and diminished feel. But I feel like I should give this racquet a few weeks to see if it grows on me. I'm also eagerly hoping for a new release of the 6.1 95. The reason I even thought to switch is my racquets look very dated these days. They look and play just fine, but I just thought it might be time to stop using such old racquets as my main stick (I know it's a dumb reason).
Any thoughts from others who have made the switch or who have compared the two would be welcome.

It's because of twist weight, much higher the rf97a than the 6.1.

If you haven't already I would suggest measuring the weight, balance, and swingweight of the frames you are comparing. I tried the RF for almost a year, among mine one was 342 swingweight while another was 326. Depending on what your frames measure that may give you an idea of the mismatch. When I went to the RF it was higher in every metric for me, but since then I've gone with heavier and higher swingweight frames than the RF and am happier for it.
As said before the twistweight is quite different. You can just think of that as maneuverability to open and close the face. Even if the two frames measure the same differences in where the frames flex and where the weight is distributed changes how it reacts to your strokes.
Even though the RF has one more cross string the 6.1 is far more dense in the center. If you are hitting cleanly in the center of the 6.1 16x18 you are pretty well hitting with 18x20 density of the stringbed. Personally I felt like the RF was not reliable when going for small targets after I tried the 6.1 18x20.

Been playing with my 4D100 and Graphene Extreme Pro lately, and pulled out the Six.One 16x18 today. I had forgotten how nice the feel of the racquet is, but I am more able to force shots with the other two. Reactions on full strokes a bit slower with the Wilson, though I suspect that may be that it's a less whippy stick and I am not used to it at the moment. I can't see ever removing these from my rotation, though. Just a sweet stick. I have the last version that hit the market. It's solid in every area.

Thanks for the feedback (both u and Arti). I had not even thought of the concept of twist weight. On that metric alone, I think the RF97 is quite different from all previous pro staffs. For instance, even though the 6.1 95 line is quite different from the 85 and 90 racquets, I never noticed such a significant difference in twist weight. During my first session with the RF97, I did notice That even a short swing (more like swipe of the racquet) could put significant pace on the ball. I guess that is the benefit of the racquet's stability and I definitely noticed Fed hit some winners at the AO when he was stretched and not able to put a full swing on the ball.
Will see if the racquet grows on me....

You're just gonna be a little late on stuff. For me, the forehand worked better with the RF97 than the 6.1 (16x18). It will take you about 2 weeks to get more dialed in. It's best to work in the gym on endurance exercises (if you can) since your endurance level will be slightly less. I built up to where I was good for about 2 full sets in hot weather (if I practiced about twice a week). Either way, it's still usable even if you don't practice. You'll just be slightly late on shots, which isn't that big o deal (I won more singles matches with this racquet than any other I've played with, while I was hitting late).

I have 2 PSC 6.1 95's 16x18 and a 2014 Six.One 95 18x20 (which has so far stayed in it's unused pristine, plastic on cover condition in my storage tennis bags at home).
Love this beast!!! Initially I bought the PSC as a three racquet purchase, thinking I'm gonna sell it together with another racquet. I couldn't resist trying it, as I knew it has a cult following (plus I was always more of a Head Prestige guy). WHAT A RACQUET.... blew my mind... It had Kevlar 18 gauge strings in the Mains and a synthetic string in the crosses (Forten Kevlar Thin Blend). The Kevlar was strung very loose (no idea as it came strung already), but it was very comfortable and the control and angles that I could hit were extraordinary!!!
Very quickly it was clear that this beast was very firmly staying in the racquet bag... the siblings joined it shortly after.
Loving the new design that will be available shortly but not sure if it's worth a purchase as it may not be different from the 2014 version (just the paint job)... Can't wait to hear the reviews.

I did some buttcap work on several of my 6.1 models and found the differences inside the handle to be interesting. The hairpin and contents vary quite a bit.
The classic is rectangular, similar to a 6.0
My Hyper is sealed with a black plastic cover inside the trap door, anyone have a open one?
My ncode does not have a trap door, anyone have info?
The K-factor I have has a black plastic cover as well but with two oval holes. Inside I can see it has a fairly large horizontal metal pin. I wonder if that changes the feel?
My BLX3 is the next model I have. The hairpin is larger than any others and octagonal like the open buttcap.
The 25th Anniversary is octagonal as well but is a shorter aspect ratio. Probably similar in volume to the Classic.

Yep, it will require removing staples and attaching the new one in some manner. All wilson butt caps fit like sized handles made by wilson for a few decades. I have a 2014 buttcap on a early 6.1 and took one from a kfactor 6.1 to put on my Anniversary model.

I prefer the black flat butt cap vs the new red bulb ones. Do you think it will be successful without doing staples and stay on or will it fall off?

I use a Arrow manual staple gun and hammer them flush with a tack hammer as the gun doesn't seat them all the way in. I think professionals would use a electric or pneumatic narrow crown stapler.
I've read people say they glue or screw through the handle and I personally wouldn't trust that but it may work for them.
I guess I'm saying if you are attaching it in a non-standard way then it is up to you to feel comfortable it doesn't fling your racquet spiraling like a paper yoyo with only your butt cap and tail of your overgrip left in your hand.

I played with the n6.1 for 10 years. It's a surprisingly powerful racquet. I always used synthetic gut and played with different brands and tensions until I found Gamma LiveWire. I found that stringing this at a fairly high tension allowed me to hit with excellent spin and power. I had two and would string one at say 55 or 58 lbs and the other 2 lbs tighter. This way I could really rip if I was feeling it or get a little more assist from the strings if I was dragging that day.

my ncodes (I have kfactor,ncode, blx2, blx3) have full beds of head hawk (17), and, wilson ripspin (same as revolve as I can tell) (16), both are excellent with nice life/durability. I recommend both: hawk for a bit more control/smidge more feel at net, and, ripspin (revolve) for nice spin, a little more power than hawk...and a nice sound when you really crack it !! 
honorable mention to: YPTP (great...but dies pretty quick), and Solinco Outlast (surprise excellent for me, used in cross only so far, digging it)., and, one last one: Prince Tour XC (very firm, but control is great, decent feel).

Thin shaped poly at low-ish tension seriously works in the 18x20. You get everything with no drawback that I can find. Easy access to spin, 18x20 precision and Moab power.

I played with the PSC 6.1 in 1990's, before going on to the Hyper PS 5.0 and then the Rok 93 before coming back to the 6.1 family. I had nCode 18x20's from 2005 to 2010, and then with BLX 18x20's from 2010 to last summer. The production variance drove me nuts as I could always feel the difference between the frames. In that space of time between the 2015's being discontinued, and Wilson re-issuing the Amplifeel version, I decided to pull the trigger on the 25th anniversary edition. There was something plush and comfortable about the PSC I could never replicate in other rackets. I ordered three of the 25th Anniversary 6.1's assuming production variance and that 2 could be matchable and I would sell the 3rd. The first thing I did when they arrived is take them to Roman at ****. He measured them all and it turns out all 3 could be matched, so that's what I did. It's such a luxury to be able to pick up a racket from my bag and not worry which one it is.
Strung specs on the rackets are: 360.5g, 31.7 balance, SW 345, with an RA of 69. 2 of the rackets are all NXT at 57. The third is NXT mains at 55 with Luxilon ALU Soft at 53. I had tried poly in the early 2000's and hated it, but I really like the hybrid. As the all-NXT's break, I'm probably going to move to that combo in all 3 frames.

Seems very similar, been a long time since I played with the 6.1 95 ncode but picking this racquet I adapted immediately. Great racquet. Strung it at 47 with Isospeed Baseline. Wish I would have kept a couple of the old 6.1 ncodes.
