I bought a Wilson Pro Staff Original 6.0 85
Wondering where it was manufactured
Original cover, vented at grip end.
Pro Staff text (not italics)
Grey undercoat
White Buttcap - CHY stamp above red W
plastic bumperguard

It's in fair condition.
Played a few sets with it & its like a scalpel, no room for mishits (put a few forehands over the fence) but completely brutal when hits in the small sweetspot.
Used a PS Classic 6.1 for most of my competitive tennis & one of my buddies had 2 PS 6.0 85's In the early 90's, always wanted one (or two)

Thankyou for any info.

Here are the pics

Upon closer butt inspection, stamp is GHY

Bought it for a great price from an old fella on a very hot day, who said begrudgingly he was "too old for the game"
Just wanted to know where its from & maybe a year, too.
Thank you, guys, love this Forum...

You're in luck because imo, that's the best version that's ever been made. It's the first China version, it's a Pro Staff 85. It's lighter than earlier versions and stiffer than subsequent versions. It is amazingly solid, like nearly the entire stringbed is the sweetspot and it has superb feedback and comfort.

I befriended a racquet collector years ago and told him how I heard about the PS85's and the Sampras St Vincents but they were rare and discontinued. The next time he brought a sample of his collection and I got to hit with them. He asked me which was my favourite and I told him *this* one. To my shock, he told me to keep it and make good use of it. For years I didn't know what version it was but I loved it. Turned out it was that first China production.

I'm a massive Wilson fan (Classic 6.1 especially) & was so stoked when I saw the advert with no photos, which I think helped me get it before anybody else. Also love the single cover. It'll be a keeper. Surely its not better than a St Vincent'? I'm not concerned about collectability. This is going to be hit with & looked after. Any suggestions for a restring type? Think its has Babolat Syn Gut, but its rather aged IMO.

IMO it's better than a St Vincent. Still rock solid but lighter so you can get faster racquet head speed and topspin.
