Wilson Pro Staff V14.0

Maybe earlier, a saw a few pics on a Wilson rep computer and the RF will have "leather" paintjob with some golden details. Looks terrible in my opinion and hopefully what I saw is wrong

What is leather pj? Like the color?

I feel like its more likely to be the Ultra since players already have the new PJ but could be the PS I suppose - though it doesnt have PWS by the looks

It says August 8th at the bottom, guessing the reveal which coincides with Rogers birthday. Highly likely it’s the new PS.

We know the Ultras are coming in August though, its possible the 8th is just the date that worked best - there was no mention of Federer or allusion to him at all "things are about to get lit" doesn't really scream ProStaff marketing to me - plus the frame doesnt look very prostaff-y to me (looks quite rounded etc...) - Happy to be wrong though

the ultra v4 paint has already leaked with coric, maybe a new silo to replace the burn series? or another US open special paint job for blade

It could just be a representation of whatever new tech they have in the Ultras too - there is absolutely a blue color on the strings

I already saw this frame in person, like said above, it is a night edition for the current wilson frames for the US Open. They are all black with reflective stripes.

cant believe they are running that back. I think they did it for the french open in 2018 or 2019? horrible

well these new ones are quite different from the “bold edition” if that’s what you mean.

These new night edition are actually good looking, as long you keep the lights on. They should be banned from any night play though.

It must work. Can we blame Wilson for giving the people (not us) what they want? Most on here (myself included) want Wilson to reissue ancient 90s that are not viable for most modern players. Doubt they can afford to listen to us too much
fair counter - i just want the 6.1 back lol so many tour players still use it

lol agreed these are much better than the bold, although in the same vein

Quite like the copper colour at first glance. Harks back to the gloss, gradient PJs of 90s tennis, particularly so when combined with the PWS of the Pro Staff.

Thanks for posting! Interesting that it looks like there’s gonna be a new 100 sq. in. version.

I copied the chunk of text right below the rackets into Google Translate and here’s what it came back with…

PRO STAFF V14.0 has PRADIGM BENDING technology that realizes a feeling reminiscent of classic PRO STAFF, and also has power and control performance that can be used for modern power tennis. In addition to RF, 97, and 97L, PRO STAFF X, which is 100 square inches and has excellent operability, is also newly introduced.

I wonder how the X will differentiate itself from the 97. The extra 3 sq inches isn’t much so maybe stiffness? It would’ve been interesting to see a 105+ with the rest of those specs.

Link seems to have been gone.

so essentially the X is the six one 100 v13 / eurostaff successor officialised globally?

Hmmm interesting. The 100 is also 315g and 21.5mm beam, I would be tempted as the 6.1 100 v13 is a bit light indeed

97 is probably to appease those who want continuity, and 100 is moving towards the new norm of 100 but still with relatively controlled specs vs competitors. Could be quite interesting

Don't really see much talk about pro staffs in general. How is the stability for the 97? Saw power was an issue people had. How's the power level compared to a clash or blade?

V14 description sounds very good..

I play with all three, Pro Staff v13, Clash 98 v1, Blade 98 18x20 v7. The Pro Staff is far better than what you read here. I’ve tinkered with weight, strings gauge, tension and come to the conclusion that it is a fine stick with a little weight at 12 and counterbalanced in the grip. Favorite string is Solstice Power at 47. Power, precision, sick turquoise strings on black frame. C’mon! It’s comfortably firm. I have a bad elbow and never get soreness. Played three hours yesterday…no worries. Try it!

We have identical taste in racquets. I also settled on the Pro Staff 97. I ordered custom ones with the gloss finish.

So.... what... they're going back to the old thin box beam design? Cause otherwise, nice marketing BS. It's already known the PS 97S had a lot of the old feel because the beam was box beam and thin, they just f**ked it up with a string pattern that no one asked for or wanted.

Any pics please? And how durable has the gloss finish been for you? I’m thinking about ordering the same!
The gloss finish, so far has been great. It feels more solid than the fuzzy-feel finish, almost like the racquet feels firmer or something. Durability is much better, no chipping or rubbing off like the fuzzy-feel. I had wear AND chips from the fuzzy-feel ones just from simply putting them in my bad next to each other.
I will post a pic today.
