Wilson Pro v2 overgrip coming

Im stoked to try these. When do they drop in March?

Love the idea of pro OG with more tack, thats the only reason I moved away from it

hopefully they are as more durable and tacky as my usual Dunlop Super-Tac
i feel as if it will be similar to Dunlop “Super-tac” and Head “Prime tour” (both of which are very similar). I give the edge to “super-tac”, it is imo the best Tacky overgrip on the market. I’d use it on my head racquets if I didn’t have OCD.

I wanna give a shout out to “tourna tuff” as well, very similar as well but it feels like “super-tac”/“prime tour” if you used it twice already (in a good way though). The new Yonex “Supergrap Dry” feels very similar which is quite different than their previous effort “Dry Grap” which felt almost indistinguishable from Wilson “Advantage”. I’m not sure if the new Yonex “Supergrap Wet” is the same as the previous “Supergrap” which felt almost indistinguishable from Wilson “Pro”.

Anyhow, I’m interested to see what this new one is like.

I wish the grey was a little darker. The current Wilson pro grey is too light. I'm not a black OG fan, but a gunmetal grey would look sharp on many racquets

What's wrong with the current stuff? I think it is great.
Glad this might address other peoples needs, I just hope they keep the original too.

True, I keep coming back to Wilson pro, hope they don't change any of its characteristics for the worse

Interested in this v2. I have always liked the base Wilson pro the most. Now I'm afraid they won't do anything substantial and just raise the price :D .

The trend in the world now is to make something great. Get a bunch of people to become loyal to the product/brand then in a few years create a version 2 that is cheaper, doesn't work as well or hits a completely different audience than the one that it initially was used for.

I think tennis shoes fit this model perfectly. So many brands "improve" the shoe only to make it worse and more expensive.
Racquets can go either way. Some step in the right direction and other racquets after a few generations don't even seem to be the same type of racquet.

But outside of tennis, this seems to have been nototrious in tech--Apps, programs etc. The original works great and then the updates have more and more bugs.

So I hope Wilson doesn't take something great and make it worse. If it is different, but they keep the V1, then no big deal.

I'm using these and like them a lot! It is marginally tackier than the original which is a fantastic pro, not that I was looking for it to be tackier.
The thickness is on par with the original Pro OG but the width is slightly wider (maybe 10-15%?)
The only major issue I noticed was that the increase width causes a slight crease when you start transitioning out of the butt of the grip to wrapping the main portion of the handle - it tends to kink there but appears to go away after some use.

The taper on both ends is neat but you really have to wrap it consistently. People who like a lot of overlap will run out of grip because the total length is shorter than the original Pro OG.
Initial feel is very similar to the original but I have instantly noticed how much longer it stays tacky. They say they've improved the wet feel (when your hand starts to sweat) and it's doing an excellent job of maintaining high levels of tack even after 3-4 hours of playing. I typically replace my overgrips after 2-3 hours (yes, I'm weird like that) and I have easily gone over 4+ so far with no noticeable decrease in tack. Feels brand new!

I may continue buying this but if Wilson can produce this same formula in the original size, it'll be an upgrade with no downside.

TLDR; increased tack, stays tacky longer, width is increase 10-15%, total grip length is shorter

Let me guess, it was in development with direct feedback from Roger, and he was planning to use it during his comeback. I can see the video ads now, “I was always looking for just a little more tac.” - R.F.

Roger made his billion with On.

Where did you buy 2.0 please?

I believe these are only released in Japan. I had a relative pick a 12 pack in black for me at a local tennis shop while he was there visiting. The grips are a bit different than the original. The v2 are tackier from the start and do last longer. I applied one on my UP and after four hitting sessions, still tacky and holds up..my hands don't sweat too much though.

I picked some up from Japan a few months back and finally got around to installing one after using up my v1s and was confused for a bit because of the dual starting taper ends and backing tape on both sides. Are these meant to be reversible?

all the wilson pros i have tried are like that. they are not intended to be reversible afaik, as the adhesive is on one side only.

I could be wrong and can’t remember anymore but I think each tapered end had its adhesive on opposite sides which is why I thought it might be reversible.

I suppose it doesn’t really matter anyway it’s not like I would remove it after it’s worn and wrap it the other way. I’m just surprised Wilson would take the extra steps to make it reversible (if it actually is).

Wilson Pro Overgrip: with the individual pieces (I can't recall how the big rolls go).

You get a rolled up overgrip with tape going around the middle.
The overgrip has a transparent plastic backing which you need to peel off. This goes the entire length of the overgrip.
There is a tapered piece with a bit of hard paper that you remove and it's sticky underneath this and you apply it to the bottom of the handle.
You wrap it around. The top is not tapered, it ends with the side of a rectangle.
You take the tape going around the middle, peel off the backing and then wrap the tape around the top of the overgrip to hold it in place.
You can cut the top part before taping it on if you want it tapered.

Been playing with these ovegrips for most of the time since last year, and damn, they are good! perfect tackiness and feel. Somewhat hard to lay out nicely. Both ends are tapered, and they have a really annoying plastic cover which is hard to take off :D

Stock up when in JPN.

:D The plastic film on both sides of the grip are annoying. I'm lovin these grips; will get more next trip to Japan.

These have been working well for me from a durability perspective. I don’t think I can tell the difference in feel from the original but the tackiness seems to last a couple extra hours longer.
