Wilson Python/ Defyer - Released July 2026

Has anyone here tried the Defyer 100" (retail) and could share their opinion on using it with a one-handed backhand? I'm curious if it's fast and whether it feels stable/solid.
Does it have that signature Wilson feel, or is it drier?

Which Head 100?

nvm I assume you’re referring to the Defyer with a 100 sq. in. head.

sight unseen, I'm likely going to bit the bullet and buy a 100". Currently using the Ultra 99 Pro. Forecasting I'll add four total grams at 12 to get a little more swingweight. If I like it, I'll pick up a second a few months and will match them then.

The Snakeskin 100 did kinda remind me of the steam 99 pro stock I have. A little more control though, same level of heavy ball. I assume the retail Defyer 100 and Ultra 99 Pro would be on a similar wavelength.

I'm going to try both but I'm leaning 100. I tried the 98 snakeskin and felt it was a little to hard to use for a few reasons already mentioned... but I'll try the 98 retail to see if it's better in any way. I'm hoping the 100 is easier to use but yet not a total boom stick. I'm using a 2021 Radical Pro right now but have used the Blade V9 16x19 recently and also Babolat Pure Strike team that was modified.

I'm sure you will hear more after tomorrow. Don't have OHBH so can't help you on that

I've hit with versions of snakeskin P100 prototype with very different stiffness. The one from months ago, rep told me probably an earlier production, felt muted and softer than P98. The newer one from very recently, should be close to the final retail, is much crisper than first, and firmer than P98.

Spec wise it's close to retail target as well, unlike P98 prototypes. Around 321g strung, 322 SW with 4G. Definitely more stable than P98.

The feel would be up to your preference really, at least this last prototype did not have that Blade V10 type solid feel, it's more firm, connected, raw. Some might prefer that, some might find it hard on the arm if retail layup is similar. You sure can use string choices to balance out the feel to your liking though. Remember that my impression is from trying it with 4G

solid firetruck red? what a lame pj, i was really hoping for snakeskin of some sort.

the minimalist trend for racquet paint jobs has truly started to bore me and is getting quite stale imo. this has been the trend for almost a decade.

racquet companies need to start making more maximalist designs again.

Yeah I'm playing with blade 98 v6 (18x20) so i'm not sure i want to go all the way up to the D100 even if most people seem to prefer it.

I've played Blade 98 for 10+ years. I like the 2026 Vcore 98 - has the better more connected feel as well as feeling like it has a higher quality layup with better stability than the Wilson in stock form.
 
After buying the Defyer, he couldn't afford a T-Shirt anymore

Hello. Has anyone here used the Python pro stock 98 and is now using the Defyer 98? If so, could you please compare what you found different? I am particularly interested in the feel and the stability. Is there a big difference between the pro stock and the retail version?

Not sure. They were directly from Wilson so maybe not 100% retail specs.
Tempted just placed order for demo. $80 aud - crazy (use to just pay for shipping $25) from tennis only but get back $50 credit if you purchase
The aero 98 is an awesome racquet when you’re playing well with good timing. If it’s not your day, it’s so unforgiving. Currently struggling with shoulder and elbow issues hence the thinner gauge 1.2 confidential soft
Other racquet I’m demoing too is the ezone 98
Given the defyer is gloss, I’m already swayed
