Wilson Python/ Defyer - Released July 2026

98 and 100 "concept edition" available now in Japan in very limited quantities, 100l and 100 ul coming in august

Is looking alot like a wilson promo movie.
Not sure if they are objectieve. I hope though

Well, he's sponsored by a big tennis shop in the UK and the other guy speaking on the video is the actual owner of the same big tennis shop! So I doubt you'll hear anything critical in the video.

Need someone truly objective and who isn't afraid to tell it as it is eg TennCom guy

Anyone in the US have suggestions for picking up a “Redline” release racquet?
Haven’t ordered from abroad before and I’m assuming I can’t just do it through TWE
You almost certainly can. Certain items had brand restrictions to ship outside EU but not most. 24 euro starting shipping fee but lower MSRP for many items especially strings. Been buying from TWE to US for a decade myself

However, you might get a fat customs bill from FedEx afterwards. Not sure if the import custom status has changed. The last time I ordered within the last 12 months, got a ~ 20% customs bill after. Historically there’s been 800 usd threshold to trigger customs but it was removed during trade war. Do some research on import customs for sporting goods from Germany

Beckett will be the first to tell you that racquet reviews are inherently subjective.

We each only test with our own strokes, game, and preferences

you have a racket comparison on the extreme tennis website. I can't say that my impression is the same for all rackets, but I agree with the general impression for most rackets. It turns out that this is a very stiff racket.

Yeah but he knows his own mind and he's not afraid to give his own genuine opinion, rather than just copy the online hype or parrot from the marketing brochure.

We need more independent thinkers in the tennis social media space and less brain dead / paid for product promoters.

Holy moly 68RA unstrung??? That's about 66RA strung.

My arm is hurting already
TWE has it at 326 SW and 66RA. Didn't feel like it was crazy stiff when i hit with it and I do get arm pain. Still a couple points lower than Ezone100 and actually very similar to Radical MP (300g, 323SW, 66RA). Concern might be what string setup you need to match it with to get the best out of it as I'm someone who doesn't like stringing above 48

So, the Defeyer is finally on sale in the shops. The big question now, of course, is… how are we going to fill that huge void that’s been left since today? No more releases to look forward to. No more rumours to share. No more endless chatter about ****ty colour and names. Difficult times ahead, guys.

Trust me there will still be flocks of new comments ****ting on the color and name. The same ones that already filled up 10+ pages of this thread.

Pure Aero 98 is like 71 RA unstrung per Babolat, 66 RA strung per TW by the way.

Your estimate might be a bit off. And subjectively it should be much more comfortable than PA98

Nope, I've measured the RA loads of racquets over the years as I used to string in a tennis shop. Aero unstrung RA is typically about 68-69 and there's also some variance within their batches of racquets going upwards. TW just average a small sample.

Spin value seems to be calculated from string pattern, mass, head size, maybe stiffness. Some values can give you a vague idea I guess.

i did not watch the lafino video, but that would be my guess. I think the concept edition is just what is available right now.
This situation been explained multiple times in this thread, by me and others. Please go back 15-20 pages to read (I’m not kidding) from just a few days ago haha

The redline texted units were just early units already produced before they changed the name a few weeks ago. None of them will ship to the North American market because the name change is due to “redlining” being associated to the historical discriminatory practices in the US, for which its impact is still well alive today.

Oh, did you not hear? All the ATP pros are now playing the V98 codename "Vyper". Rumour it's going to compete with control rackets and be released as the Radline, but then last minute might be called the Wilson Ryot. Will have an RA of 79 but will be insanely comfortable like a clash. Very precise and controlled as long as it's strung at 70lbs or above.

Wow, that's another indicator that they've jacked up the stiffness for the retail release as Blade 98 and Speed Tour are pretty comfortable racquets with a nice amount of flex.

For comparison purposes, what other racquets in that database have a comfort score around 61?

Now we actually have to go back to practicing to evolve, not trough magic tricks and fancy marketing.

i know that. maybe you should respond to the person who asked me.

For some reason they don't have aero 98 on the site. But this is the closest thing.

As I said specifically, 71 unsturng is listed by Babolat:
Pure Aero 98 is like 71 RA unstrung per Babolat, 66 RA strung per TW by the way.

Your estimate might be a bit off. And subjectively it should be a fair bit more comfortable than PA98
Babolat also lists 71 +-3 for the RA variance btw.

You and them can both be right. I’m sure it’s possible that different machines can produce different readings.

For Defyer 98 Pro, strung RA seems to come out around 64, which is inline with most P98 prototypes measuring around 64-65 strung.

We all know at this point, RA is a very limited reference for indicating subjective experience of stiffness or comfort, especially for modern frames that are engineered with different firmness level at different parts of the frame, all with varying levels of dampening tech.

I would just urge you to go by subjective testing to draw conclusions and not by a number

Hmm....those comfort numbers don't really make sense. Ultra 100 is a stiff rigid racquet. Blade 100 v9 is soft, flexy racquet. Yet they both have almost the same comfort score. The comfort number for the Blade 100 must be wrong.

Bit worrying that they've had to add lead tape to the 98 and are still moaning about swing weight despite the retail racquet having increased in weight over Python.

Where exactly did Wilson add the +5g?? Nowhere?

What I find really odd about Nerd's videos is that he never shows the actual specs of the sample that he's using despite him having a Head 4-in-1 machine at home. Wilson clamping down on influencers showing QC variations? It's therefore difficult to know if he's got an underspec, overspec or outlier of a sample.

Yep, this is a dealbreaker for me given the competition's stability at stock weight

A lot of the reviews so far had it strung with ALU power in the low 50s and kept mentioning they'd want it tighter into the mid 50s to tame the power. Must be a pretty comfortable stick if you're putting your poly at 55+.

Meant to sorry. Well it can be for anyone still wondering that will come across this page
I mean there are many Redline pics now but no one seem to care about 100L. Curious if it is also printed Redline like 98pro and 100. I wanted to order a 100L redline but finally ended with 100 because I want the concept edition more than Defyer.
It is very common that all L and UL models of all brands get very few reviews.

The quality of tennis rackets reviews from the most-known reviewers have hit rock-bottom. Especially, when two head sizes are presented 100 and 98, I know what I'm gonna hear beforehand. Luca Berg from Rackets and Runners and then Beckett aka Tenncom seem to offer more thorough descriptions of what they felt while playing with the rackets they review. Of course, they will through some "sauce" here and there to keep our attention.

I mean, if I play the Aero 100 and Aero 98 reviews side-by-side with the Defryier 100 and 98, 90% of it it's the same.

i think this is going to appeal much more to PS holdouts than blade users, given how stiff it turned out.
I dunno, there seemed to be an expectation that the 98 was a carbon copy of the PA98 but its sounding more like a blade with extra juice. The wilson marketing bangs on about how flexible the head is in all sorts of directions, so I wouldn't take the RA at face value.

71 unstrung is nosebleed levels, though. taking it at face value ...
