Wilson RF $249 v PK Redondo MP $129 ?

Crocodile

G.O.A.T.
Two racquets, both traditional heavy weight frames The Redondo has a much lower SW and RA than the RF but is $120 cheaper and you can almost buy 2 PK’s for one Wilson RF.
What do you think? Is the RF worth that much more or are we paying for Roger’s wages ? The Redondo is almost the cheapest new racquet you can buy. Is it a bargain or is it way behind in performance to the Wilson, Head and Yonex’s. It is however only $20 less than the Pro Tour 2.0. What are your thoughts about this?

If you want the rf97 get the rf97, though used is probably the best option, and if the paint ain't bad a new grommet strip and grip should make it like new

If only you could find a nice cross between the two?

Get a demo Clash 98, put on your two overgrips, 10-12g at 10 & 2 and tell me what you think ;)

Rendondo MP is much flexier than RF. If you know your personal preference tendency towards racquet flex, then your decision is made; Both are beautiful frames, but I can guarantee you they don't play like each other!
I’m definitely more into flexible headlight frames. It’s interesting though how people see the Redondo as a quality frame. I wonder if you repainted and put a Wilson logo on it could you get away with asking $249 for it. Can it become a $249 frame with some fresh paint and a new name with some new marketing. We could give it a nice clean blue paint job with some Gold pin stepping and call it the PK Copper Ace 2.0.

to make it a true wilson, you also gotta cheapen the quality control, I don't think pro kennex is well known enough for people to shell out 250 for a single stick though

Completely different racquets. Apples and oranges.

These are two completely different racquets. Rf is stiff with open pattern and redondo is flexy return closed pattern. I've used both, they play nothing alike. I preferred the redondo for my game.

I want to point out that higher price doesn't mean higher quality especially when it comes to Wilson's quality control.

Rendondo is certainly a lovely frame and a refreshing break from the stiff frames that are the norm. Its worth a purchase even just to have it for your collection! ;)

I also like this general sort of rig and I've been happy with my Volkl C10's for a good while. No, I'm not going to recommend those ;)

I sampled the RF 97 at least a couple times in recent years, but that frame gave me too much of the impression of my old ProStaff 6.1 Classics. Those were great for pure serve and volley tennis, but too stiff and powerful to work well for me around the baseline. The flex and consistency of the C10 gave me the sort of performance I was needing when my game was evolving from S&V into more of an all-court style.

Along the way I also picked up a used Redondo MP from a TT'er. That frame definitely felt like a soft and mellow hitter, but it didn't give me too much zip or authority, especially compared with my Volkls. The Redondo was nice, but it just didn't really thrill me.

If I was looking for something that might land in between the RF 97 and the Redondo MP, I think my first look would be the ProKennex Ki Q+ Tour in one version or another - I think there are three of them. Never tried a Head Pro Tour 2.0, but that looks like fun. I'd probably need to drop about a half-ounce of lead on the handle to get a more cozy balance, though.

Yes, my favourite frame now for quite a few years has been the Volkl Power Bridge Mid, because it has the mass and thin beam but a moderate SW and head light balance so you can really express yourself with it like a scalpel.
With the Redondo v RF 97 the thing that I am questioning is the price difference if you want to buy one right now new. For $249 US, that’s a lot of money for the RF compared to the Redondo at $129 US especially once you convert currencies to say Australia or NZ for example.
Either you are going to say that the RF is over priced and the Redondo is super cheap, which in my opinion it is.
However some may question the Redondo’s price thinking that it’s priced so low because it’s either a dated piece of equipment lacking the performance and qualities of the other brands. I’m inclined to think that it’s a better frame for its $129 price point and wonder how it would fair if PK updated the cosmetics, gave it a new name, say the “Diamond Ace”, and priced it up a bit.

If that's what you're wondering if always go 2 sticks over 1. As long as it's not cheapo racket, but the redondo is most certainly a quality stick

Not a bad buy at $129. It's not my ideal frame, but I think it's a decent old-school sort of player.

The Pro Tour 2.0 is the best frame out of the group you mentioned

I think the closest thing to the RF97 out there is the Volkl Organix 10 Super G mid 330. Features V Engine Bridge, Super G grommet system and biosensor handle. 96" headsize, 64 RA, 12.3 oz strung. TW's Michelle said it served better than her weighted up RF97. Mine come in about 13 oz after my customary rectangular handle mod, overgrip and maybe 10 total grams of lead tape at 10, 12 and 2. And the good news is - zero arm trauma. It's a sleeper IMO. Of course no longer a production model but available as previously owned or new old stock reasonably priced at your favorite retread sites.

Yes the SG Mid 330 is a great racquet that swings fast but packs a punch. Volkl should go again with this frame. The 96 head in a v engine hoop is an excellent concept. Strung low at 45lbs it’s a great frame:

Redondo is going to be a power vampire unless thats your thing. I mean, its super low powered with a small sweet spot. In terms of performance, it's going to be one of the more demanding frames out there.

The Bay has some new Dunlop Aerogel 200s for 100 USD per pop. If you want to go low power, but killer feel and not expensive, I'd take that Dunny over the Redondo.

Exactly!!! 1st guy I’ve run across with knowledge of this frame! Flew under the radar of most. Promotion was terrible and the TW scores were ridiculously low compared to the RF97. Course I’m one that always suspected that Siskel and Ebert must have gotten some nice kickbacks for some of those big studio endorsements.o_O

Just tried to purchase a pk redondo 4 3/8 and was told that pk has pulled the plug on united states distribution. Bummer. Ok Volkl i need you to release a real frame 98 63 flex or below 20mm beam 18 x 20

I'm stunned it took Pro Kennex this long to stop US production, I've literally seen someone use one one time ever. I've heard nothing but great things about them but I never see them.

Is this true, any reason given. Are the wounding up? I know there were meant to be new models coming.
