Wilson Shift 300 Stability

Hej,

For those who have played the racquet.

Do you feel the clash v3, clash v3 pro and ultra pro are more stable than the shift 300?

I like the shift overall, but it is a bit weak on my OHBH?
in comparison, clash 98 and blade 98 are really stable on my OHBH but hitting with them for more than one hour is hard (fatigue)

If I replace it, I would like to keep the depth, power but get more stability when I hit mu ohbh.

I don't have experience with the other rackets, but I have 6g of lead at 10 & 2 on mine and it feels stable for my OHBH. ~350g static, ~327 SW and ~9 pts headlight. Maybe you could try 1-2g at 9 & 3 and see if it makes a noticeable difference?

If you didn't counterbalance with lead in the handle / under the butt cap, you could try ~3g to bring it back to about baseline or ~6.5g to make it a bit lighter to compensate for the extra SW and head heavier balance. Otherwise, someone else will hopefully have some useful suggestions. Good luck!

Been playing with the Shift 300 since they came out in Labs version and I have 4 of them. I think a little bit of lead tape can solve your problem, a lot of them came in underspec. My lightest one was 272 Swingweight unstrung, 300 SW strung.

First thing I would start with is adding a gram on each side of the throat, this should change how it swings minimally and increase solidness. If you like what you felt there, can always add a bit more.

If you want more power/stability, can always add a tiny bit of weight inside the hoop, but don’t go too much at once. I ended up with 2-3g at 12 for power and 1 g at each side of 10-2 depending on the individual racquet.

Personally I find weight at 3-9 to decrease maneuverability too much especially on my forehand and serve. I much prefer going at 12 despite the higher SW number it helps the racquet head to come around easier when accelerating. That just depends on preference and stroke production.

But 100% recommend throat weight first! That’s the change Alcaraz made to his PA98 this year and it’s my go to now when a frame is lacking a little stability.
