Wilson Sting 95 High Beam - manufacturing years?

Snaab

Semi-Pro
I just picked up a NOS example, factory leather grip, weighs 355 grams without an over grip or dampener. The thicker beam width reminds me a bit of the Wilson Profile, although not that thick. I like the graphics and the cross bar. Was wondering what years this was produced - does this go all the way back to the late 80s? IIRC the original Stings had a traditional beam width.

I hit with this over the weekend and was surprised how playable it is given its static weight. Hits a heavy ball, and volleys are super stable given the mass. I even ordered a second one off the auction site. Anyways would still like to narrow down the production years - was it (for example) '91-'93?

I had two of these. I got the first in 1989 (reasonably sure of this). It got damaged (not by me smashing it, I swear :) ) a year or so later, so I got another. The two were slightly different. The first looked exactly like the original Sting in terms of graphics and texture, but with a thicker profile. IIFRC, the second had slightly different graphics, was maybe a little darker, and was more contoured (there were indentations in a couple of where the lower hoop meets the shaft, and I think the crosspiece may have been thinner than the rest of the racket.) I know for sure I had the second one by the summer of '91, but I don't remember how much before then I got it. If yours has flat surfaces (i.e., the shaft, hoop, and crosspieces are all in one plane), it's probably ca. '89-'91. If the surfaces are more textured and the graphics are a little busier, it's probably from somewhere in '91 or later. My recollection is that they played the same. I don't know if there were additional variants of the model (I moved on to other rackets and didn't pay attention to the Sting).
