Wilson T-5000

If this is in the wrong area, please move. I just thought there would be more in this section who would know more about this stick. Today I found a Wilson T-5000 with the case and in great condition at a thrift store for $ 2.50. I have never see one before so I just had to pick it up. I still have the T-2000 I bought back in 1980 and used to hit with it all the time years ago. I see T-2000's at the thrift stores all the time. I have never hit with the T-5000 and was wondering the difference between it and the T-2000. I think I will try out the T-5000 on the court soon just out of curiosity and then put it on the wall. It is missing the dampener on the bottom as I have heard is common. Just a kind of neat find really. At least I think so.

Love hitting w/the T steel series. The throat bar on the 3000, 4000 and 5000 make them 100% stable / less wobbly / less flexy than the T2000. My racket is the widebody wilson profile 95. So. going from it to the t thin head of the T steelies is problematic. I can deal w/the 65 sq inch. But not the width and weight difference in the head of the two rackets. As for the "dampener" on the 5000, if you ever find a 5000 w/the "dampener" intact, buy it. Very very rare bird indeed. I don't think the effect of the tungston missing piece is anything more than a cosmetic gimmick.

I'm sure the 5000, with it's slightly more oval head shape played differently (probably better) than the 2-3000. I used a 3000 in HS, and I really liked it. I've strung many of them. The stringing wasn't bad, but tying off on the metal suspension wires was hard.
