Are these rackets basically the exact same frame? Has anybody used these frames can tell me a bit about them? There seems to be a high swingweight which I like but I think I would add a lot more weight to the frame maybe get it up to around 350g strung. what are the pros and cons of this racket?

Justine Henin and NishikoriXxxx use a very close mould, although the drill isn't exactly the same. It's 16x20, but spacing between strings may vary. The base of the mold is this :

You can get some on the bay for nothing... You'll need to add silicone, leather grip, AND maybe nails into the silicone (I've had to) to increase the static's weight. It's the best stock Wilson racquet I've tried yet. Just a bomb. Be careful, string it low, especially with full poly bed. It's a very low powered racquet. But it's a freaking GEM!

Thats great to hear! i've been looking for a 95 sq head and 16x20 racket and they're very hard to come by, is this racket the same as the ultra 95 cv? and yeah you can get them for very cheap online!

I'd love to playtest this but there's nowhere in ireland that provides this service or nowhere in europe send demo rackets over here, do you think i should just bite the bullet and go for it? they're unbelievably cheap at the moment

It's just a good racquet. It doesn't dictate your style! But yeah, in theory, that's the kind of racquet it is.

Check out the Vonex VCore 95 and its predecessor the VCore SV 95. All 3 of these (Burn/Ultra 95 included) have a lot of forgiveness for a 95. Spin and string bed consistency is great for all 3, but the Yonex's are more comfortable.

The Tour 95 is a great series of racquets, my favorite was the KTour 95, though I haven't played with the NTour version.

I believe most users here add weight to their VC95. Most add a leather grip (me included), but weight in the hoop is more personal. I added 6 grams at 12, but many prefer 9 and 3.

TB Soft will work great in this racquet. My string of choice is GrappleSnake Tour Sniper at 49/46. Highly recommend you split the tension (as per yonex).

Yeah I plan on getting some leather grips myself what leather grips are the best? Most people I’ve talked to string this racket low so I think I’ll start with a 50/48 split with TB soft.

Will probably add weight to 9 and 3 myself but I’m not really sure what specs I should be trying to get when I customize it

I think something cheap like Tourna leather is fine for this if you plan on using over grips. I really like Fairway, but its overkill.

Get a scale and a Jerry rig a balance board with a ruler and a fat marker to get initial specs before adding weight. Yonex is good about QC so they should be very close. Try to get your final product within 1 gram and 1mm balance.

my friend has all the customisation tools and said he'd do it for me, i just don't really know what to look for. I'm planning on travelling to play ITF future events so something similar to pros would be good, having a one handed backhand makes it difficult to have a high SW on quick courts in ireland but would be better suited to slow courts I guess?

I play with a lot of guys who are in the same boat as you, trying to transition to futures. My set up is about 340g and 340SW, (I forget the exact).

If you have some time during the off season, do some testing. I cannot compete with bigger hitters unless my SW is at least 340, but you are probably fitter than I am so get this number as high as you can. Depending on your stroke, between 340 and 355 will probably be ideal.

Once you get SW and static weight dialed in, start seeing how weight at 3 and 9 affects your game. Stan has a 1hbh and he has tons of lead at 3 and 9, but guys like Fed and Shapo dont.

In general, I recommend going with a set up that strengthens your weapons rather than hides your weaknesses.

yeah i got my wilson ultra tour up to 340g and 340sw and my god when you connect with the ball its a different ball game all together but i struggled on the backhand to get the ball over the net it was bizarre! but yeah i guess ill have to mess around with it and see what its like, im an aggressive baseliner that comes to the net frequently. Not sure how i should set it up really

Burn 95 really nice racket. Decent pop and spin for a 95 and pretty good touch and control for its power level. And that 0.25 inch longer is nothing for me feels very smooth in hand. I’m a shorter guy at 5’8 so I was always looking for extended racket but those 0.5 inch longer is just too long and too sluggish. This one with 0.25 inch longer feels just right

I got a pair recently for a really good price. They're on the stiff side for my taste, but with a softish string setup it's not too bad. I couldn't really make it work comfort-wise even with soft low-tension poly, but with a hybrid setup with cheapo syngut it's okay. They play quite well, and the fairly high swing weight is surprisingly manageable. I'm a bit surprised it doesn't seem to get much traction here, even though it's a pretty good racquet.
