Wilson x RF Aug 8, 2024

I'm currently using a blade pro 98 18x20 v9 and have been hitting very well with it. Looking to try this racquet out/add it to my collection and I've been able to find 2 nearby in my grip size with the following specs:
  1. 318g 11pts HL
  2. 322g 10pts HL
I typically just add a Tourna Tuff XL overgrip.

Any suggestions on which of the 2 options to choose?

If you’re good enough at tennis & hitting a one hander, the stick doesn’t really matter. I mean, dimitrov does fine with the PS97 18x18. Thiem did well with the strike. Tsitsipas well with the kblade. I don’t think any specific mold will unlock a one hander
olivier rochus played with a 28 inch Michael Chang Graphite and Albert Costa with a Graphite 2 LB (28 inch), Henin with a 27.5 inch Hyper Hammer 5.3 (with all important Powerholes) so yeah... there is no "one hander racquet imo

Well Nadal could beat me with a frying pan. It does mean it will be a good racquet for me.

sure, my point is more that one handers don't require a specific kind of frame but different players will like different frames based on their playstyle/bodies/technique etc... so there is nothing about the RF01 any inherently less viable for a one hander than any other frame out there

It's 8/8/2024 in some time zones... any info available other than what we have seen so far?
Not really, but it is late evening here and I saw the guys in local pro shop already stringing these, so they have demos available tomorrow morning...

Hi there, for whom already have tested the frame, could possibile to know if the pattern 16x19 and drilling (space between strings) it’s the same of all the previous RF97 Autograph?

or it’s a new and different drilling?

can the shop measure swingweight?

I would like to see Briffidi numbers for TW and SW before I pull the trigger...

Otherwise I guess I’ll need to be that guy.

I went back to the shop again and had both racquets re-measured.
  1. 319g 9pts HL
  2. 321g 9pts HL
Swing weights for both racquets came in ~298g unstrung with Option 2 having a tiny bit lighter SW than Option 1. Based on my FeelyCraft, Option 1 felt a bit more HH compared to Option 2.

i do not know what a feelycraft is, but those should be very similar.

I’m hitting my OHBH better than ever and I’ve been playing with Aeropro drive original.

95% is preparation (feet) and the assisted racket head drop…rest is timing.

As long as you are not using a 310 SW frame, you should be fine with most anything.

It’s almost all timing, making sure the arm is straight and in front of the body at the contact point. I recently was hitting with a Prince Graphite Classic 107 and expected my backhand to be terrible. Surprisingly I was able to hit it pretty well.

Looks good on video

Is it me or was launch angle insanely high on every shot including volleys.

Obviously you cannot judge from a video but I’ve seen that dude hit through balls and it didn’t seem like he was doing that. Major loopers.

I didn't see any posts here about current Pro Staffs being so tight on QC but would love to read about it if you could please find the time to post a link to this info. Thank you.

They're from my experience talking to people on the courts about their racquets. That's including people saying they're using <insert player here> racquet.

Doesn't really matter what you or I think because it's the choice of the manufacturer to verify whether the market goes with it or not.
You vote with your wallet. Don't buy something that you don't like and don't settle because something is close to what you want. If you settle than sales tell the manufacturer that the audience accepted it.
Just saw these posts. Unless Wilson has really improved their QC recently, they are nowhere near a 2g tolerance, not even close. Many believe that it was 7g but it is actually 10g.
I ordered two RF97 directly from Wilson Custom in late 2021, and the two racquets play like two totally different models. I asked Wilson customer service and this was the reply:
---------------
Thank you for contacting Wilson Sporting Goods.

Below are the spec tolerances for Wilson rackets:

Weight: +/- 10 grams
Balance: +/- 10 mm = 3 to 4 points
Ra Stiffness: +/- 3

We cannot guarantee that each racket shipped from our warehouse will have exactly the same specs, we do not offer this service. This can only be achieved by purchasing directly from one of out authorised retailers. All the terms and condition for custom orders are listed in the website.

Does anyone else think the listing of specs on the inside of the throat or hoop area is tacky? Everyone does this now but I was never a fan. The classic racquets didn’t have all the text and I loved them for that. Simplicity is beauty.

I got to play with it (300g version) compared to my ezone 98 and a v9 blade. Definitely high launch angle, similar to the v9 blade 16x19 launch angle. But coming from an ezone 98 I didn't find it super hard to control, needed to get used to it though

What about the power/stiffness levels?

Tennispro.eu has them up for sale. Site lists specs for all 3 models with the exception of RA.
Pro 320g, €300
Standard, 300g, €280
Future, 280g, €260

Pretty penny, but I guess that’s the going rate for things these days

Take aways for the reviews so far ?

I haven’t got a firm impression of how to summarise the 320 or 300 versions yet ?
All of the similar notes of forgiveness and modern beam design have me thinking just a Wilson aero clone/pure drive clone/pro stock shift
