Not almost, it does, and it's always thrilling to visibly see him improving over the course of a match/tournament until he hits that deadly zone in the semis
Buddy, the way he is playing, do you think he'll get to the Semis? I mean it's hard for me to understand how he plays here and looks SO ORDINARY.
It's CRAZY how one wins a slam and then plays like he has no confidence. I mean, I understand surface plays a role. But at the heart its STILL tennis. And if you have the shots and confidence (as Nadal does) then wins should come easy --- especially against nobody's like Klizan.
A little while ago, Nadal was on the top of the world and we're comparing him to Sampras. But now he just looks like another player struggling to get through against Journeymen in the opening rounds of a slam.
How is this possible?

That is pretty cynical view on things.
I have never wished that Federer's opponent injures himself even in some of his worst losses. That is just sickening.
Besides, there is zero glory in winning over someone who has to retire on the spot with injury.

He did it between sets as per the rule without disrupting the match and was back before the set break was over (unlike Nadal who has done it between games, before opponent served for the match etc). Try harder and make some sense next time.

Klizan has ran out of steam. It's OK trying your heart out and being inspired but his game is not suited to the grass at all and he's very clumsy around the court, albeit very athletic.
As for Nadal, there is much to be positive about in terms of how he's playing compared to last year. He's certainly stronger here.

He's in trouble with the movement on fresh grass, as always. Klizan was forcing errors on Nadal with short slices to Nadal BH and hard flat strokes to Nadal's FH, forcing Nadal to move to uncomfortable positions. Then after set1, Klizan stopped hitting that short slice which troubles Nadal, and we all know that Klizan will lose if he just keeps baseline bashing.

Kind of. He was being smart earlier even when he was taking cuts. Now he's just ripping the first thing that comes onto his FH side and missing. Probably because he's behind as you mentioned.
If Nadal was to commit murder his fans would still support him. Its a lost cause.

No just pointing out the difference between the timing of the bathroom breaks in each situation. In other words, surely you can't compare Nadal's break today to that of Federer's which he even admitted was a tactic to take time for the sun to go down so there wasn't a shadow across half the court.

Nadal playing well literally revolves around continuous match play and striking the ball. It's why he practices so hard. He really hasn't had any matches to get him into the groove on grass. This is the perfect match for him.

He needs a win under his belt to get his confidence going. As long as they don't close the roof during the Rosol match, I think he'll be fine. Then his draw will be ok until Fed (Gasquet already went to 5 today and Karlo lost). I believe this year! I really do.
