I have realised why Nadal always loses the first set. It's his strategy to grind out the grass on the center court as much as possible without actually risking losing the match by falling behind two sets to love.

This is genius lol.

Seriously though, gotta feel good as a Nadal fan that he's made it to the 2nd week. Has to be a favorite to at least make the final @ this point.

what gives you that impression haha?

Pretty much that the only non-white player who is given any kind of respect on this board is Gael Monfils -- and even then it's only because he's a funny clown who doesn't win much.

If Monfils actually truly challenged the top white players, you'd see a revolt against him from the Federer, Murray, Djokovic, and Dimitrov fans.

Another forehand winner to seal it.

What a last 3 sets from Nadal. One thing I won't lie about that I like: Rafa looks genuinely happy to be in the 4th round, like he's not just taking it for granted that he's this far. He knows he struggles on grass and every win is huge for him. That's humility and I have to respect that. Look how elated he looks.

errrr. I'm Caucasian but I'm also a Nadal fan! I would also consider Nadal to be white although latin. My post was sarcasm.

Pleased with that, looked in really good form once he got the breakthrough and finally broke him.

Not even much of a concern with the first set considering he didn't face a break point and I think overall still won more points that set. Shame for Kukushkin, did well in the first set and then sporadically thereafter, not sure how much the slip affected him cause it looked like a possible hyperextension, or at least close to one.

Yay Rafa.

Vintage Nadal back on Wimbledon. This is the version of Nadal I like most. When he retires, I think people will always remember him for his back paddling around the back hand and hitting that ferocious inside out forehand.

Well played after that first set. Vamos Rafa!! On to the second week :D

This was Nadal's 5th win in the last 6 Slam matches, after losing the first set (winning all in 4 sets).

Nadal is pounding more winners now than Kukushkin.

Lol you Nadal fans are making such a big deal out of it. Nadal is such a pusher than each time he hits more winners than his opponent (any opponent for the matter) it's a big deal, LOL.

If you want to be the world no.1 player and mop the floor with guys like Federer, you have to push the ball.
